Who are the Weakdaze?
The Weakdaze are an in-your-face, four piece, rock and roll band that draws heavy influences from all things cool about sixties and seventies rock music, fashion, and attitude. With an unparalleled and well-renowned circus of a live show, The Weakdaze play an unrelenting barrage of dirt blues, mod punk, and thumped-up funk rock tunes that get the kids moving from start to finish. With unyielding showmanship, compulsive dancing, ruthless attitude, and a batch of ultra-catchy, body-moving songs often unheard of in today’s indie scene, The Weakdaze have climbed to the top of the Chicago south suburbs scene in a mere year and a half of activity.
Their songs are supercharged and sex fueled, so much so that The Weakdaze’s music has been appropriately dubbed “sex rock.” These shaggy-haired boys break from their streak of hard-hitting originals only to cool down the crowd with one of their classic and audience-beloved sixties cover songs such as their trademark “Time of the Season” by immediate influences The Zombies or Tommy James’s “I Think We’re Alone Now.”
The super-tight, vintage sound of The Weakdaze can be accredited to the band’s line-up and unique instrumentation. The Weakdaze feature Matt Ostrowski (age 20)on electric guitar and lead vocals, Rob Jensen (age 18) on the drums, Jon Ozoksut (age 19) on the electric bass guitar, and Dan Smart (age 19) on organ and backing vocals. Some of the best talent in the area, especially for their young age, each member adds unique flavor and style to the mix and offers something to look at during a live show. The Weakdaze also employ the use of a variety of other instruments such as theremin, harmonicas, tambourine, and cowbell to give their songs more depth and extra kick, particularly in a live setting. Each member comes from a well rounded musical background (having all played music together in high school) and adds his own ideas to the songs, primarily written by Smart and Ostrowski.
As a band, The Weakdaze have only one goal: to play rock and roll music the best that it can be played. They hope to take their music and tight-jeans and sunglasses attitude to the masses by whatever means necessary. A committed love of music drives each member. The Weakdaze hope to reach as broad an audience as possible, and their music certainly allows for such accessibility.
book the weakdaze . . . you won't be sorry.
