But within the blink of an eye, the revival was over, punk and funk was in, and the swing jive dissapeared from the dance scene. and with it any interest from the dancers. Some 27 years later, whilst on a day trip to Hastings, there was Terry Hulfs poster, larger than life - Learn to Lindy Hop. Well 27 years is a long time, but it was worth it. I started going to lessons in Hastings, Otford, and Canterbury. Within a year I had danced a students caberet in front of 200 dances and joined a dance troup. A year and a half, many lessons, weekenders and about 30 videos later, I started Canterbury Swing dance lessons in Chartham Hatch. 2 years into my dancing, the name was changed to the Canterbury Hep Cats and the first 1940's swing dance was put on in Canterbury, with over 80 attending. Since then, Canterbury Hep Cats have had many great guest teachers to our class, many more dances and dance displays. I've turned Dj as well, Known as Tiger Terry, thanks to that infamous Tiger skin Zoot Suit. It's been a fabulous time and my biggest thanks go to the lovely Carole Elsmore, who taught me all I wanted to know in those early days. And afterwards,to Marcus and Barble, who taught me how Lindy Hop Should be danced
