Little Jennifer

An innocent love
turned perverse
through a twisted mind
An innocent child
Abused
Confused
Finding normalcy in lies
Laying bare in her bed,
Clothes wet on the floor
These little accidents…
They happen sometimes
But no one wonders why

Why does no one ever wonder why?

She has trouble walking
Won’t take a shower alone
Only with Daddy
It feels strange without him
But no one wonders why

Why does no one ever wonder why?

Tiny and scared,
her lips turn blue
They call her a “sickly child”
like it’s some kind of excuse

Why does no one ever wonder why?

My heart cries
when I think of her
when I think of what she must go through at night
and when I realize that I can’t imagine the half of it
He has broadcasted his own sins.
So blatantly obvious,
they lie there untouched
and he continues
to cast his corruption upon her
and to rob her of purity

“She’s such a sweet child”
They tell her constantly
But why does no one see the sadness,
the confusion in those beautiful little eyes?
Why does no one wonder where it comes from?

Somewhere inside,
She knows it’s not normal.
She’s crying out for help.

Why does no one ever wonder why?

If you know a child in need of help, please take action.
