It's strange to hear you stutter

It’s strange to hear you stutter.
I never thought I could have that effect
on you of all people
but the words I used to hide
now flow from my mouth,
free from concern of consequence.
Everything I held back,
every broken piece of my heart
that I fearfully kept secret,
is now revealed to you.
The harsh thoughts
I struggled to keep inside
now become words
gushing out of me
onto you
where they belonged in the first place.
And as I speak,
you stutter.
It’s strange to hear you stutter.
You always managed to find
some quick response to argue
a painful truth.
I suppose the truth is becoming too painful.
Too true
And worst of all,
It’s coming from me.
It’s strange to hear you stutter.
