Bejeweled (all games)
Bejeweled
Manufacturer: Pop Cap Games, 2001
Description:
Swap the positions of adjacent diamonds in order to join
combinations of 3 or more to clear away, verticallly and
horizontallly. The game ends when time is up or when no more moves
can be made.
History:
This was a flagship launch for Pop Cap when they first began
business in 2000, and one of the best puzzle challenges on the
market. It was originally going to be titled "Diamond Mine" before
they came up with the official title.
Bejeweled
2
Manufacturer: Pop Cap Games, 2004
Description:
This time, gameplay invovles extra gimmicks like joining 4 gems
together to create power gems that can explode when matched with
another 2 or more, and hyper cubes formed from a combination of 5
that can be used to clear away all gems of the same color/shape on
the screen. And, when you're on the timed mode, pressing the hint
icon when you're having difficulty spotting matches to make can
cause the timer to speed up momentarily.
Note:
If you combine 5 gems with 2 pairs facing different directions - 2
vertically and 2 horizontally - it will generate a power gem but not
a hyper cube. Only when all 5 combined gems are in the same
direction does it produce a hyper cube.
Bejeweled
Twist
Manufacturer: Pop Cap Games, 2008
Description:
In this version, you need to rotate gems around in order to match
them. It's still possible to combine as many as 4-5 gems (4 leads to
a flame gem and 5 to a lightning gem), but it's much trickier and
with new complications like bomb gems and locked gem effects, can be
a lot harder to accomplish. Coal gems can't be matched at all, and
need to be cleared with flame and lightning effects. The status bar
for completion of levels is on the side instead of underneath the
rows.
Bejeweled
3
Manufacturer: Pop Cap Games, 2010
Description:
This edition has more enhanced graphics, and when you combine 5 gems
with two sets facing different directions - 2 vertically and 2
horizontally - it will generate a lightning gem that unleashes a
bolt of electricity that can clear away a whole row in 4 directions.
And if you match 4 gems with one that's already got flame effects on
it, you can still have another flame gem left in its wake more
easily than in the second game (unless there's 2 flame gems in the
same combination).
The additional features include:
1] Diamond Mine mode where you need to dig around blocks of earth by
eliminating gems near them.
2] Zen mode where you can relax and clear away gems at greatest of
ease with worrying about loss.
3] Butterfly mode where butterflies take the place of some gems and
you need to clear them before they can reach the top boundary and
get eaten by a spider.
4] Lightning mode where you need to try and clear special gems
bearing numbers 5 and 10 for extra seconds that are added on when
the timer reaches near the end. Try to do some of this fast as you
can, and it'll announce "blazing speed".
Bejeweled Stars
Manufacturer: Pop Cap Games, 2016
This is a special edition of the game with a higher difficulty
level, where you need to clear a lot of stages within a limited set
of moves, and with "pillars" to work your way around, not unlike
say, what Candy Crush features. It includes elements seen in
Bejeweled 3, like the Butterfly mode, and adds special powerups as
you go along that you can try to use to your advantage when the
going is difficult.
