Introduction to the Study Paper

One of the requirements for ILS 616 Social Science References/Sources is to provide a study paper on the discipline of choice, in this case Education. The first part of the study paper is the summary of an interview with a practicing librarian in the social sciences. In this case, an interview was conducted with a librarian at the O’Keefe Library at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. A second part of the study paper was to discuss the information flow in the discipline. Included in this discussion are the sub-disciplines of education including, but not limited to elementary and secondary education, postsecondary education, and distance education. In addition, the types of reference sources that are available to students and researchers, such as encyclopedias, directories, and handbooks are discussed.
