Title - "Great Teacher Onizuka"
Alternative title(s) - N/A
Genre(s) - Comedy, romance, drama and action

"G.T.O." is a very popular 25-volume manga by Fujisawa Tru-sensei that first came out in 1997 by Kodansha and Shnen Magazine. Meet Onizuka Eikichi, a 22-year old guy who's single, fun and a person on a mission: to be a teacher. Of course, with him, there's bound to be trouble, especially since he used to be a bike gang member. Students think he's not cut out to be a teacher, but Onizuka will do whatever it takes to make miracles happen.

Fun - 10

As each volume goes by, you see the characters develop more and more. Each student does realize that Onizuka is not just a teacher. He's a true friend.

You want a balance in comedy and drama? The series knows when to be funny and when to be serious. In terms of flaws, aside from a few plain moments, there's not much to say.

Life - 10

Does it have a lot of life? You bet it does! You'll cherish this for years to come.

Story - 10

Let me sum this up in a simple math problem. Touching moments + a determined main character = a perfect score. Hee!

Art - 10

I don't know why, but despite the inconsistency of the art, I find that I should give the category a perfect score. In many times, the art looks nice. In others, it looks scary. Oh well.

Overall - 10

"G.T.O." may be one of the most borderline series in terms of ethics, but what can I say? It's that great of a series. If I am lying, then I'll be holding buckets of water in a hallway, saying how I was saying some sort of gimmick about the series.

+

It had the charm and it still does to this day.

-

A few plain moments and the inconsistent art can dent the image, but the image still stays strong.
