Bata-kun no Uchi - "Kaitou Saint Tail" - Manga
Meimi and her friends.

Title - "Kait Saint Tail"/"Kaitou Saint Tail"
Alternative title(s) - "Mysterious Thief Saint Tail"
Genre(s) - Comedy, mystery, drama, etc.

"St. Tail" - only read a couple of the volumes of the manga, but haven't seen the anime yet. All I know about the anime is that Sakurai Tomo-san plays as Meimi and not much else. That's it.

I doubt you have heard of this series before. So, sit back and take good notes. Welcome to "Kait Saint Tail" 101!

"St. Tail" is a 1994, Tachikawa Megumi-sensei manga. There are 7 volumes total. The anime came out a year after. As I said earlier, other than the fact that Sakurai Tomo-san played as Meimi, I don't know much else about the anime.

Hanoka Meimi seems to be your ordinary 14-year-old girl. She attends Saint Paulia Gakuen, but people don't know that at night, she transforms into the mysterious thief Saint Tail. She's has traits of Robin Hood, and traits of Houdini. She would steal stuff, but she does this only for those people in need and she would never steal from the poor. Somehow, you would see a ponytail left behind in the scenes. (That's why the series is called "St. Tail".)

Meimi would use her talents to help those in trouble and to avoid being captured by detective Asuka Daiki Jr. It's okay. She’s got God and an apprentice nun named Mimori Seira, who's played by Inoue Kikuko-sama in the anime, on her side. Still, how long can she keep this task up?

This series had a lot of controversy a while back, despite the fact that it is a children's series. Why? Religious matters. I thought that this series would never hit North America, but I was wrong. There's actually a domestic release of the manga and the anime. I should thank Kami-sama. Yeah.

Fun - 8

It's really cute and fun. You have to love the characters. They all have their motives and such. Meimi is such a darn cute character!

You even see the word "Itadakimasu!" in the English version and that is rare! Come to think of it, I don't think an English translated manga kept the word. Still, I know this series could do more. I don't know why. It's a gut feeling.

Life - 8

Is it a keeper? That depends. Personally, this is a series for shjo fanatics. Still, if you don't enjoy it, there's always some other series.

Story - 8

Not the best story in the world, but hey! At least it's still worth checking out.

Art - 8

"St. Tail" has some really nice designs. There could be some improvements, but what else is there to complain about? Nothing much else.

Overall - 8

"St. Tail" is a simple, yet sweet and nice series. I just would have wished that there was more to the series. Oh well. Give it a chance and see how it goes, okay?

+

You have straight 8's here! Decent art, decent characters, if you like shjo manga, this is for you.

Well, there is not much to complain about. Outside of religion issues that will certainly chew up some people, I would have wanted more out of this series at times.
