All participates of this tournament just like those in the past have also be ranked against participates of other tournaments across the nation as well. The tournament was sanctioned by both APEX & GPA. Uh, I guess that's it for this part.
For my first tournament that I'm hosting, well, not many people attended. The reason is because there was another tournament on the same held in the southern part of the state and that was the Rico Console Tournament, held in Riverside. If you have complained about the fact that this tournament ran on the same date as that southern California tournament, blame my partner, not me because he was heavily under-staffed and I became part of the staff in a week or so before the tournament.
Well, you saw some of the results. I never did play any of the games. Why?
"Capcom vs SNK 2": I dislike it.
"Capcom Fighting Jam": I dislike it too.
"Marvel vs Capcom 2": dislike it also.
"The King of Fighters 2003": I dislike it as well. (Wow! I'm full of hate now, am I?)
"Soul Calibur II": would have played it, except that I don't like dubs. (Yes, that was my reason and yes, they have the English-speaking voices. That and I am not a 3D player.)
"Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike": dislike it.
So, what did I get out of this? Aside from learning how to run a tournament and getting a good experience out of it, well, to those who attended the southern one, you missed out on a good amount of terrific stuff because I had some good conversations regarding various Japanese matters from Japanese music to anime and manga. Oh and unlike the southern one, the games list felt more diverse. I am sure that the people who took part in our tournament wished that they saw the action down south.
Well, I'm glad Phuc got second place in "3S". That's his personal best. So, what that tells you is that the host knows how to play.
From now on, I'll only host if Phuc's in a bind and if I'm free. So, I'm like an alternative host if you want to say that. Um, it was interesting, even though I didn't really win that much and even if I did win, I didn't get much satisfaction out of the victory. The next tournament, which will be hopefully on the 12th of February, I'm 50/50 on entering as a player and host.
Oh. I suppose you want the omake. Here. (Oh and if you hear someone say "Itadaki!" it's me cheering my friend on against a friend of a friend of mine. Well, he's a fellow host after all and this was during the tournament, not an omake match.) Make sure that you save movies to your hard drive. Mata ne. =P
Update as of 1/11/05: the next tournament is on the 19th of next month.
