Title - "Ai Tenshi Densetsu Wedding Peach"
Alternative title(s) - "Legend of the Angel of Love, Wedding Peach"
Genre(s) - Mah shjo, drama, comedy, etc.
Before I had the opportunity to read some of "Wedding Peach" a while back, all I knew about the series was that the seiy of the three main girls, Hikami Kyko-san, Nogami Yukana-san and Miyamura Yko-san, made up a singing group called Furil. That's it. I also barely remember that there was one more member: Imai Yuka-san. Oh and um, this series has a lot of mixed views.
"Wedding Peach", a 1994 series if I recall, is a 6-volume Shogakukan series by Tomita Sukehiro-sensei, along with Yazawa Nao-sensei and Tachibana Mami-sensei. (God bless the Techno Girls for giving me the exact number of manga volumes.) In a nutshell, this is a magical brides series. Hee!
In some fantasy land, there's an evil queen named Reine (Rain) Devila who wants all people involved with romance to be killed because romance just sickens her and so, she sends her minions to do her bidding. Now, two people, a guy (and a cute one at that for some girls) named Limone and Aphrodite, the queen of angels, ask the help of three young girls to defeat these demons. They are Hanasaki Momoko/Wedding Peach, Tanima Yuri/Angel Lily, Tamano Hinagiku/Angel Daisy. There's also another angel named Scarlet/Salvia, but I won't go into that. (By the way, the voice actress and the characters are lined up already and their names have meaning if you know Japanese.)
So, that's that. What do I think of it? Read on to find out.

Okay, it's another "Sailor Moon". That means I will instantly...oh, I don't want to say "hate". "Hate" is such a harsh word. I'll use "not be fond of". That means I will instantly not be fond of it, right? Yes and no.
Yes, I am not really fond of it because well, how can I say this? I don't feel that it's deep enough. Maybe I shouldn't jump to conclusions yet. After all, I only read the first volume.
No, there are cases in which I am fond of it. I just find the mixing of weddings and a magical girl theme to be amusing, but at the same time, I find it kawaii. Momoko's your Usagi, Yuri is your Ami and Hinagiku is your Makoto. That was easy. Ha ha ha! =P
So, what now? Um, the whole series has been translated by Viz up to this point and maybe I should read those other volumes I have not read yet. If I get the opportunity, then I'll read the others. Until then, it's kawaii, but that's about it up to this point. I'm trying my best to liking this people.
Life - 7
This is still being determined, but for now, I'll give it an okay rating.
Story - 7
Again, this will be set as it is for now.
Art - 9
After giving out scores that barely make this series tread over water, I can say that this is pretty kawaii as I said earlier. There's so much elegance in here. The designs of the characters look okay. I didn't even have to bring this paragraph. I could have just said "Nice," and be off.
Anyway, what's with the point subtraction? Up to this point, the one part that sort of gives me a funny feeling is that Viz changed the cover of volume 2, which is just a scene in volume 1 in color. I don't know if I should praise them for taking a chance on a gig like this or be let down, but I'm more inclined towards the latter.
Overall - 7
So, this isn't the most deepest series out there. That should not really stop you from giving this a chance. It's definitely an underrated series in my opinion.
+
It's kawaii and it has some elegant elements.

Unless you don't mind the lack of a deep story, its appeal is not good enough for it to be a series to keep in the long run.
