Anaphase

Anaphase is the stage of chromosome migration to the poles of the cell. Anaphase begins right where metaphase left off – when the chromatids separate and become the chromosomes of daughter nuclei. During anaphase one single-stranded chromosome of each previously double-stranded chromatid moves toward one pole of the cell, and the other single-stranded "partner" moves towards the opposite pole. The nucleus reappears and the spindle fibers disappear. This stage ends when the chromosomes reach the poles of the cell. The next step in the cell cycle, the fourth, and last, stage of mitosis, is telophase.
