Mike Demchuk

He was born April 28, 1924 in Selkirk, Manitoba, Canada. He graduated from Central Technical School, Toronto, Ontario. He joined the Navy in 1943 and became a physical and recreational training instructor (PNRTI). He played junior hockey with the Montreal Royals and senior Navy in 1943-44. He took his discharge in 1945 from the service and played hockey in Moncton, St. John New Brunswick (senior and semi-pro) 1945-55. Then he retired from hockey during which he was a sporting goods store manager. In 1955 he went to Toronto as a manager of a sporting goods store. After about 5 years he moved back to Halifax, N.S. After one year he went back to Toronto and went to work in St. Catherines, Ontario where he had his own business called New Baby Products which was the sole distributor for Stroll-O-Chair out of New York. Then he worked out of Toronto for Exquisite Form Brasier Company and then transferred to Edmundton where he was manager for western Canada (16-17 years). Then he retired in Truro, N.S. He was first married in 1945 to Audrey Taylor. They had Three boys:Michael Demchuk, Ronald Demchuk, and Gregory Demchuk. He remarried Florence (Hamilton) Irving on July 9th, 1993.
