Cape Bojeador Light House
The Cape Bojeador Lighthouse is located in the town of Burgos about 50 kilometers away from the City of Laoag. The lighthouse was established by the Spanish government on March 31, 1892. It still serves to guide ships plying the waters between the Philippines and Taiwan. Modern technology has replaced the way the lighthouse is operated. Solar panels provide the energy to illuminate the light. The caretaker of the lighthouse is a man named Ruben Labuguen. He has been taking care of the lighthouse for about 44 years. Sadly I have not had the pleasure to meet this man. On the date I visited the lighthouse he was away visiting his family. I vowed to return though and meet him and hear his stories about the lighthouse and the surrounding hills.
Pagudpud
The town of Pagudpud is located at the northernmost tip of the Island of Luzon about 578 kilometers or 12-13 hours by car from Manila. It's main attractions are it's white sand beaches still undiscovered by most tourists. One of it's beach resorts is the Saud Beach Resort.
Farming is a prominent industry in Pagudpud and other neighboring lowland areas. The easy access to water supply and the rich, fertile soil are two main reasons why crops like rice and corn are grown here. Rice is planted three times in one season whereas other areas are only able to grow it twice in one season.
Saud Beach
Pictures do not do this place justice. You have to be there to really appreciate it's beauty, it's pristine sparkling waters. The beaches of Pagudpud can be compared to another famous beach - Boracay. It's fine white sand becons you to take your shoes off and stroll along it's shore. It's waters invite you to take a dip. It offers miles and miles of unspoiled beaches. I visited Saud Beach Resort during my trip to Ilocos Norte. There are 4 other resorts waiting for you. What are you waiting for?
Burgos
My tour guide told me that Burgos is where FPJ filmed "Ang Panday".

The Bell Tower is reported to be sinking an average of 1 cm. per year. No longer accessible by normal means, one has to be lifted onto the structure to get to the bells.
