Psalm 111)
1 Praise you the LORD (Hallelu-Yah).
(א) I will praise the LORD with my whole heart,
(ב) In the secret assembly of the upright (or just), and in the congregation.
2 (ג) The works of the LORD are great, (The great subject of this Psalm, as His ways are of the next. Cp. Rev. 15:3)
(ד) Sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.
3 (ה) His work is honorable and majestic:
(ו) And His righteousness endures for ever. (His blessing.)
4 (ז) He has made His wonderful works to be remembered: (Not forgotten. Will be declared at future Pentecost.)
(ח) The LORD is gracious and full of compassion. (See Ex. 34;6,7.)
5 (ט) He has given meat (put for food of all kind) to them that revere (or love) Him:
(י) He will ever be mindful of His covenant. (His promise.)
6 (כ) He has showed His people the power of His works,
(ל) That He may give them the inheritance of the nations.
7 (ם) The works of His hands are verity and judgment (justice);
(נ) All His commandments are sure.
8 (ס) They stand fast for ever and ever, (They don't change.)
(ע) And are done in truth and uprightness.
9 (פ) He sent redemption to His people: (Quoted in Luke 1:68. The redemption involves 3 things: [1] His People; [2] His covenant; [3] His name.)
(צ) He has commanded His covenant for ever:
(ק) Holy and to be revered is His name.
10 (ר) The reverence of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: (Not wisdom itself, or its end, but only the beginning of it. See Job 28:28. Prov. 1:7.)
(ש) A good understanding have all they that do His commandments: (See Ps. 119:129)
(ת) His praise endures for ever.
