1 Ascribe (or Bring as due) to the LORD, O You mighty, (The Targum reads "angels".)
Give to the LORD glory and strength.
2 Give to the LORD the glory due to Himself;
Bow down to the LORD in His glorious Sanctuary. (Cp. 2 Chron. 20:21. Ps. 96:9. Ex. 28:2.)

3 The thunder of the LORD is upon the waters:
The GOD (El = the mighty Creator, the glorious God) of glory thunders:
The LORD is upon mighty waters.
4 The voice of the LORD is with power;
The voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
5 The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars;
Yes, the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He makes them also to skip like a calf;
Lebanon and Hermon (cp. Deut. 3:9) like a young wild oxen. (Cp. 22:21. Job 39:9)
7 The voice of the LORD divides the flames of fire. (I.e. lightning.)
8 The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness;
The LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh-Naphtali. (near Lebanon; not Kadesh-barnea)
9 The voice of the LORD makes the hinds to calve (through fright),
And strips bare (or , lays open to view) the forests:
And in His palace (i.e. heaven itself) does every being there ascribe His glory. (See v.1. Cp. Rev. 4:8/)
10 The LORD sits upon the flood; (Corresponding with v.3 = "sat enthroned at the flood", referring to Genesis)
Yes, the LORD sits King for ever.
11 The LORD will give strength (see 28:8. He who has it [v1] will give it [v.11]) to His people;
The LORD will bless His people with His peace. (Cp. Phil. 4:7.)
