Boxing returns to Punta Gorda later this month at the Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center.
The “War on the Peace River” will be the first boxing event at the new center and the first in Punta Gorda since “War on the Peace River XI” on Nov. 21, 2000, at the old Charlotte Memorial Auditorium.
Former WBO No. 1 rated world title contender, Freeman “The Natural” Barr will headline the card. A 16-year veteran, Barr has a 28-4 record with 15 knockouts. The 36-year-old is no stranger to Punta Gorda, having fought there nine times, winning all nine.
Also appearing will be Port Charlotte’s “Tough” Theo Kruger, a cruiserweight who is looking forward to fighting at home and showcasing his talents.
Undefeated “Dynamite” Domonique Dolton (7-0), an Emanuel Steward protégé, also will be in action.
Former amateur champion and Haitian Olympian slick “Silky” Wilky Campfort is 4-1 as a pro and
Tampa's middleweight hopeful, sensational "Sweet" Marquis Davis (2-0, with 2 K.O.'s), will also be in action. SJC Boxing’s exciting Jesus "Acha" Lule will fight, as well.More bouts still are being discussed.
The weigh-ins will take place at boxing headquarters Four Points by Sheraton in Punta Gorda.
John Hall’s Goal Post Sports Bar and Grill in Port Charlotte will host a public workout the afternoon of Aug. 15.

Retired NFL player Jeff Brady, who played for eight teams in nine years, has teamed with Florida Boxing Hall of Fame trainer Steve Canton and recently formed his promotional company.
Florida Boxing Hall of Fame 2010 Inductee, and local icon, Bob Alexander, will be the ring announcer of all his shows.
