The Savior
I watch him from a distance. He frolics about gaily without a care in the world. It is simply not right for any one human to be that happy. That child is evil spawn and must be destroyed.
I open my briefcase and assemble my gun. A smile comes to my face as I lock the laser sight onto the top of the gun. I lock the silencer onto the barrel of the weapon and aim. A red fleck of light dances on the child’s head. I am filled with joy due to the knowledge of the evil that will soon be eliminated. I pull the trigger and a bullet zooms through the air. Just before the bullet can strike its target, the child bends down to pick a flower and the bullet hits the ground harmlessly.
I curse to myself as I see that the child still lives. I carefully aim once again. This time, at the chest. I pull the trigger and another bullet flies through the air.
The child screams as the bullet finds its mark and pierces his chest. The child rolls around on the ground in agony, always repeating “Mommy, I can’t breathe! Help me!” I aim again for the finishing shot. I pull the trigger and a third bullet flies through the air, and pierces his tender skull.
Victory. I have destroyed the evil spawn. I take my gun apart and put it back into the briefcase. I then emerge from the bushes to celebrate. I am soon tackled by police officers. They cannot see my vision. They do not understand the great evil that I have helped to eliminate. They take away my gun and slap handcuffs on me. I am taken to an asylum. The doctors here say that I am crazy. They say that my condition makes me think that I am a hero in my mind. They are wrong. I am much more than a mere hero; I am mankind’s savior. Without me, the evil spawn will take over mankind and destroy them all. Well, until they realize their folly, the only thing I can do is just sit in this padded cell, and wait.
