Dragons, dragons, dragons

Grianth, Firan, and Rionth are Fire-lizards. Fire-lizards are from Pern, a planet far from Earth that our future generations found to be inhabitable. Fire-lizards are between two to three feet long. Then Thread became a serious health hazard. Thread wasmatter that, by coming through the atmosphere, become long, thin entities that ate up anything not solid rock. This menace almost killed the humans, until they turned their genetic power to good use. They took the DNA of the fire-lizards, and used to create the Pernese dragons. The fire-lizards came in five colors, and because of that, the dragons did too.

The gold is the highest in the level of dragons, being the main breeder. She is the largest, and rode by the weyrwoman. These dragon are very protective over the other dragons of the weyr. Golds are only riden by women.

Bronzes, the next largest, are the only ones that mate golds. People who have Impressed bronzes are eligable to become Weyrleaders, who keep the Weyr itself running in perfect order. These are always men.

A weyr is a place were dragons and dragonriders live. In most cases, it is a place that has been hollowed out into all sorts of caves. Golds are usually at the bottom, bronzes next. Browns, and the rest are above.

The rest: browns are the third largest and their riders (only men) can become Wingseconds, not as important as Weyrleaders, but they still help manage a group of people.

Blues are the second smallest, rode only by men, and are usually the Watchers at the Weyr.

Lastly are the greens, the smallest of the dragons. They are the only other female other than the golds, and are offen riden by men. Now, however, there are women present to Impress greens. Greens can lay eggs, but they do not lay as large clutches as the golds.

This is Amethyst and her mate Bloodstone, a Fire Elemental dragon. They are nice, but Amethyst is incredibly shy and Bloodstone is very protective over her. We here wish them the best.
