Slow Like Honey

You moved like honey in my dream last night
Yeah, some old fires were burning
You come near to me and you endeared to me
But you couldn't quite discern me...

April awoke from a restless sleep, with the radio alarm blaring in her ear. She'd had that same dream again. She was walking the streets late at night, and spotted him sitting in a diner, reading a book and drinking coffee. He was a tall blonde man, with a commanding, yet child-like presence. His face seemed familiar, but she couldn't remember where from. Every time, just as she'd get seated, he would get up to leave, almost as if her presence intimidated him.

Does that scare you? I'll let you run away
But your heart will not oblige you
You'll remember me like a melody
Yeah, I'll haunt the world inside you...

She grudingly got up to start her day, taking a quick shower and slipping into some casual clothes. She was on a deadline for some test shots for an up and coming music magazine, so she had planned on heading to the mecca of pop music, Orlando. She herself lived an hour or so away. Popping in the new Matchbox 20 CD, she made the drive out to Orlando, then stopped in a small cafe for some coffee and a bagel. As she went out the door, she ran flat into someone walking in. It was him, the man from her dream. For an instant, it was as if time stopped, and they just stared at one another. Was it her imagination, or did he seem to recognize her too? A moment later, they both went their seperate ways. April went about her day as usual, but she couldn't get him out of her mind, especially since now she knew he was an actual person.

It's my big secret--gonna win you over
Slow like honey, heavy with mood
I'll let you see me, I'll cover your regard
I'll invade your demeanor
And you'll yield to me like scent in the breeze
And you'll wonder what it is about me...

Nick walked the rest of the way into the cafe, and he could still smell her perfume. He could hardly believe he had actually run into her, the vision from his dreams. She was reaching out to him, but there was always something standing in the way, so he couldn't quite get to her.

It's my big secret-- keeping you coming
Slow like honey, heavy with mood
Though dreams can be deceiving
Like faces are to hearts
They serve for sweet relieving
When fantasy and reality are too far apart...

After a few hours of capturing the world around her on film, she met her friend Meredith for lunch. After mindless chatting, her friend sprung it on her. "So April, what do you have planned for tonight", Meredith asked casually.

"Oh I hadn't really thought that far really. Why do I get the feeling you have something up your sleeve?", April questioned her friend.

"Well I've got tickets to this big soiree Jive is throwing. Mostly big-wigs, but a few of the better known artists as well. Michael's being an ass, and besides, I thought it'd be fun if we could go together, what do you say?", Meredith asked.

"Girl, you know I hate those business dinners, they're so formal, plus I didn't bring anything to wear", April started.

"Nonsense", Meredith replied. "You can wear that asian print of mine that you've had your eye on. So we're settled, right?"

With an exasperated sigh, April agreed. "I suppose hanging out with a bunch of record execs couldn't hurt me. I might even be able to get in some decent shots for the magazine"

"Great!", Meredith exclaimed. Glancing at her watch, she stated, "Listen, I've got a meeting, but why don't you meet me back at my place around 4? The party starts at 6, and I don't wanna miss anything!"

"Ok, see you then", April said, getting up to pay her tab, then kill a few more hours. She made her way to the shopping district, where she picked up a few shirts, some shoes, and a new camera bag. She arrived at Meredith's promptly at 6, where she then put on the dress, and allowed Meredith to fuss with her hair and make-up. April never cared much for make-up, but she supposed she'd allow it for a formal gathering.

At 5:30, both women were ready, and headed over to the motel where the party was being held. Meredith flashed her invitations, and they quickly made their way inside. The pair stayed together for an hour or so, then Meredith went off to mingle. April found her way to the balcony, where she saw the most amazing view. She pulled out her small camera and took a few shots before a voice stopped her.

"It's beautiful isn't it?", a soft masculine voice asked her.

"Oh!", she replied, startled. "I didn't realize anyone else was out here."

"I'm sorry if I scared you. It's just that I can't take much of that schmoozing going on in there. I wouldn't have come at all, except that it was pretty much required", he explained.

"I know what you mean", she told him. "My friend dragged me along, and now she's right in the middle of it all"

"You're gonna think I'm crazy, and I swear this isn't some lame pick-up line, but have we met somewhere before? You look so familiar to me", he told her.

"To tell you the truth, I felt the same way, but I didn't wanna ask...", April agreed. "But no, I don't think we've met, technically, before".

"Well now's as good of a time as any. I'm Nick", he told her, extending his hand.

"April", she replied, taking in not only his firm grip, but his sea-blue eyes. "So who dragged you here?"

He looked at her curiously and said with a laugh, "I take it you aren't a fan."

"Well umm, uh", April said, scrambling for a response.

"It's ok, I'm a member of the Backstreet Boys. We're a pop vocal harmony group", he explained.

"Ahh, ok then. See, my tastes tend to run more towards jazz and alternative...sorry", she said with a gleam in her eye.

The two chatted a while longer before Nick suggested, "What do you say we get out of here? I seriously doubt we'll be missed. I know this little diner where we can go and talk if you like".

"I've seen, erm I mean, sure, that sounds nice", she told him. He showed her to a side door that led to the hallway, so they wouldn't have to explain themselves to anyone in the ballroom.

The pair walked the short distance to the diner, and were seated in a secluded corner booth. They ordered coffee and peach pie ala mode, and then began talking about everything under the sun, from music, to books, to religion, and even kung fu movies. April laughed at his imitation of the dialogue, where the words never matched up with what they were actually saying. All throughout the evening, both were sending and receiving some serious signals. April could swear she felt a shock as their hands touched when she passed him the sugar.

After a few hours she made a quick call to Meredith, to tell her where she was, and that she'd get a ride or take a cab back to her car later. Nick glanced at his watched and noticed that nearly 2 hours had passed, so he too made some calls to check in.

"I don't want to seem as if I'm totally monopolizing your time, but I'd love to spend more time with you. These booths aren't too kind on the derriere after a while though", he said with a laugh.

"I'd love to hang out some more, what did you have in mind?", April asked.

"Well, I wasn't real sure actually. Do you have any suggestions?", he asked.

"OK, now it's my turn to sound like a pick-up line, but I'd really love to photograph you. I know you probably have flashbulbs in your face all the time, being a teen idol and all", she told him, casting him an amused glance, "so it's just an idea..."

"I think somehow this will be a little different", he explained. "I'd love to". April smiled brightly at him, and they got up to pay the tab, which Nick grabbed before she could get a chance. They then walked back to the motel parking lot and got into his SUV and headed to a park that overlooked the city. He pulled some blankets from the back and set them out. "Alright madame, work your magic", he told her with a smile.

"Ok, lose the tie", she instructed, "and umm, the shoes need to go too, and I'll take a few shots like that". He posed willingly for her, and she also took a few shots of him looking out over the city, running his hands through his hair. She then instructed him to take off his jacket and button down, so he was just in a tank top and his dress slacks. She pulled the camera away and walked over to him to pull a piece of hair away from his face. Their eyes met, his face just inches away from hers, and he leaned in and placed a soft kiss on her lips. He looked into her eyes again, no words needing to be said. He took the camera strap off her shoulder and laid the camera down, then gently cupped her face in his hands and kissed her again. The pair continued kissing hungrily, slowly finding their way to the blanket and clumsily laying down on it. April ran her hands up and down his back, then pulled off the tank top. He started to resist, then relented. "You don't have anything to worry about", she whispered reassuringly. He gave her a a shy smile, then leaned down to gently kiss her neck. Before long, his arousal was evident against her. "Are you okay with this?", he asked gently.

So I stretch myself across, like a bridge
And I pull you to the edge
And stand there waiting
Trying to attain
The end to satisfy the story
Shall I release you?
Must I release you?
As I rise to meet my glory...

She nodded quickly and pulled him in for a passionate kiss, one leg between his, brushing against him. "This just feels so right for some reason", she told him, kissing him again. He unbuttoned her dress and gently caressed her breasts through her bra, before unfastening it and leaning down to gently kiss her nipples. She moaned pleasurably beneath him, reaching for his button and zipper, which she unfastened, pulling down his pants. She reached down to gently stroke him through his underwear, as he worked to remove her slip and underwear. He stopped for a moment, and simply took in the sight of her nude flesh. A bit self-conscious, she moved to re-cover herself. "No, don't. I was just admiring you", he told her. She smiled at him, and gently brushed the hair from his face. She then slowly pulled off his underwear and took him into her hand, stroking gently. He sighed and moaned appreciatively, and a few moments later, she slowly opened her legs invitingly. He entered her very slowly, and they soon became one, sharing the intensity and pleasure they brought to one another. He made sure she found her release first, watching the different emotions that passed over her face, then soon found his own release. They lie together, his flaccid manhood still inside her. They talked in soft tones, and admired the stars overhead.

An hour later, they decided it was time to head home, as they both had to be up early. He drove her back to Meredith's house, and then got out, kissing her deeply and hugging her tight. "Thank you for tonight", he told her, looking into her eyes. "It was truly a dream come true".

"I couldn't have said it better", she told him, squeezing his hand one last time, then getting into her car. He stayed and watched her leave until he couldn't see her tail lights any longer. He then got into his own vehicle, already planning something special for their next encounter.
