"Hello, Lady. Did you sleep well?" AJ asked with a smile.
"Yeah, but I didn't really get enough sleep," Whitney replied with a wink, then finished the thought. "It was so worth it, though."
AJ and Whitney kissed passionately, and they pulled the covers over themselves. AJ began to caress Whitney everywhere his hands could reach. She closed her eyes and moaned as his mouth and tongue followed his hands. She thought for sure she was going to pass out from his touches. Good thing we don't leave until tomorrow, Whitney thought as she and AJ tangled in the sheets...
Meanwhile, Patti and Nick were experiencing a similar scene in Nick's room. Moans of ecstacy filled the air.
"Mmmmmmmmmm, Nick," came from Patti's lips between kisses. Nick caressed her neck with his lips, kissing, nibbling, and sucking. Low groans were coming from him as he felt his release, and Patti sighed as she reached her peak as well. Nick collapsed for a moment to regain his breathing, and Patti ran her hands through his hair. She couldn't believe what had just happened, for it was far better than she could have ever imagined. She chuckled inwardly as she thought of Whitney. Wonder if she's having as much "fun" as I am! she thought with a smile on her face...
Laura's eyes opened as she felt Kevin caressing her arm lightly. "Mmmmmm, mornin' my love," she said as she turned to face him. He kissed her softly on her lips. "Good morning, Mrs. Richardson," he said with a gorgeous smile on his face. Laura melted whenever she saw that smile.
"Wow, sweetie, we've not even been engaged for 48 hours yet... let me just adjust to that first!" Laura said with a little laugh, kissing Kevin again and moving her left hand lightly across his chest. Kevin grabbed her hand and looked at the ring on her finger. "I'm sorry, beautiful. It's just that I can't wait."
Laura smiled. "I can't either! There's a couple more shows yet, then we'll have some time off to start planning our wedding. We have a lot to do if we're going to have a July wedding."
Kevin's hands moved about her body. He kissed Laura's neck and he spoke between kisses. "Ohhh, are you sure we can't get married, oh say, maybe next week?" Laura laughed at his eagerness. "Trust me, nothing would make me happier, but I really would like to plan a big wedding. It's the only one we're going to have so I wanna do it right!" Kevin smiled, looking into her blue crystalline eyes. "Yes, dear, whatever you say, dear," he said sarcastically. Laura laughed, "Well, looks like I got you trained pretty good already!" Kevin gave Laura a sarcastic but sexy smirk as he began kissing her again, tracing his tongue over her lips and down her chin and neck.
"Mmmmm, Kevin..." was all Laura could say as she felt her skin chill and heat up at the same time under his caresses and kisses...
The time was now 11 AM. Everyone was gathered in one of the hotel's banquet rooms for a big brunch. One last chance to relax before preparing to head back out onto the road for a few more shows, including the ones that were postponed due to Laura's accident.
Laura, Kevin, and the other four couples gathered at one table. Not much was said between each other at this meal, but the silence spoke volumes. It was as if everyone knew what everyone else was thinking as they looked about the table as they ate. Five cozy couples exchanging flirtatious glances, warm smiles, and lusty stares said it all. Finally someone broke the silence.
"So did everyone sleep well?" AJ asked. Everyone just looked at each other before laughing. Howie applauded. "Glad you broke the silence, AJ," he said, smiling. "Yeah, way to go, Bone," Nick said. Suddenly small conversations branched off from that, filling the room with sound and activity.
Kevin and Laura were oblivious to the buzz and activity around them. As always, it was almost as if they were the only ones in the room as they sit, absorbed in each other's presence.
Kevin leaned in and kissed Laura's neck, whispering in her ear. "I love you, beautiful," he said. His breath was warm on her skin, reminding her of just a few hours earlier and the night before. Laura sighed as she looked into his eyes. "I love you too! I can't wait to get back to work, but more so I can't wait to get back to Orlando. We have so much to do," Laura said with a wink. Kevin smiled as he kissed her lips tenderly.
Brian and Leighanne were sitting across from Laura and Kevin, kissing as well, and AJ noticed. "Hey y'all down on that end, do you mind? That's what you all have rooms for!" he said, then smiled at Whitney. "We've got a room, too, you know," she said, placing her hand on his leg under the table. AJ looked deeply into her brown eyes before sneaking his own kiss. "I'm glad you came, Whit. Very glad," he said, smiling at her.
Patti and Nick saw how cozy AJ and Whitney seemed to be getting. "That's great," Patti said, smiling. "Whit's such a great gal, and it seems like AJ's pretty great himself!" Nick smiled at her, taking her hand. "Well, I think you're pretty great too." He leaned in to kiss her, once again sweeping her off her feet...
A short time later all the brunchers were leaving, couple by couple. Kevin, Laura, Howie and Lisa were soon the only ones left at the table.
"So, what are the plans for today?" Howie asked, looking between all of them. Laura smiled and looked at Kevin. "Ooohhh, let's go to the park and, ummmm, I don't know... build a snowman!" Kevin smiled at Laura's enthusiasm.
"Sounds good to me, beautiful, but first I gotta go do something. I won't be long." Laura's frowned a bit, and Kevin sighed. He hated to see her do anything but smile. "Can't I come with?" Laura asked, pleading with her eyes to go, just to spend time with him. She felt as though she missed more than just a week with him. They had a lot of "catching up" to do...
"You know I hate to say 'no' to you, but this is just something I need to take care of myself. Can you forgive me? Just this one time?" Kevin smiled as Laura began to smile herself. "OK, I guess I can do without you for a little while," she said, kissing him as he left the table, looking back at her and waving before leaving the room. I wonder what he's up to now, Laura thought. The tone in his voice said that what he needed to do was something of great seriousness and importance. She hoped that he knew that whatever he needed to do, she would be there for him, no matter what. I hope he knows what he's doing...
Kevin walked down the long corridor. It was cold and dark, seemingly a fit place for the type of people housed there. He was led into a room with a man sitting at a table, in shackles. Kevin's breath caught in his throat as he sat down face to face with the man.
"What do you want?" the man said. Kevin was filled with rage as he sat eye to eye with the man who had caused Laura so much pain, physically and emotionally.
"I had so much I wanted to say to you, but now it really doesn't seem to be worth wasting my time or breath. But I still wanted to let you know that Laura came very close to dying, so close that even the doctors can't explain how she is still alive." Kevin paused to look for a reaction from the man. Nothing but a stone stare, a blank expression. Kevin knew this man probably couldn't care what he had to say, but he just had to face him, just once. He continued to speak. "Well, I guess that you truly are a cold person. How can you not feel even a bit of remorse for damn near killing a woman you claimed to love so deeply?" Kevin could see that he wasn't reaching the man, so he got up to leave. Before walking out of the room, he turned back to the man and said, "You better get used to this place. It's going to be your home for a long time." Kevin walked out the door, not looking behind him once. He's not worth it, he thought as he made his way to his car, and drove back to the hotel.
"I missed you," Laura said, showering Kevin with kisses as he returned to their hotel room. "Me too, beautiful. I missed you too," he said with a heavy sigh. Laura sensed his dispair, and asked him what was wrong. Kevin then told Laura about his visit to the jail to see Mike.
"I don't know what I had hoped to accomplish, Laura. He showed no sorrow or remorse for damn near killing you. I can't believe him!" Kevin said, his skin red with anger. Laura buried her head into his chest as he held her, thanking God for about the millionth time in the last few days that she was still with him. "I guess I just had to see him, see where 'justice' was going to keep him for a long time. If anything, that did give me some satisfaction," he finished.
"I know Kevin, about wanting to go see him. I wanted to see him there for the same reason... gaining the satisfaction of seeing him behind bars. Now I just want to get on with my life, our life," Laura said, as she drifted off to sleep in Kevin's arms...
