Dream Man - Chapter 24

Everyone said their goodbyes as they left. They were ready to start their new life together. A large white limosine was waiting for them, and they got in the back, waving out the window before rolling it up. He looked deep into her eyes. She was the most beautiful and radiant that day then he had ever seen her since they met. He didn't think it was possible to love her more than he did at that very moment. She felt the same about him too. "I love you," she said, looking deep into his eyes. "I love you too," he replied, as their lips met in a passionate kiss . . .

Kevin woke up to see that Laura was still sleeping. He brushed his lips against hers, as she responded by kissing him the most passionate kiss she's ever given him, and that he's ever had at all. "Wow," he said as their lips parted. "Good morning, indeed!" he added, smiling at Laura as her eyes met his. "Mmmm, good mornin', love," she said, kissing him once again. She never got tired of kissing, especially kissing Kevin.

"You must have been dreaming again, beautiful. You had the most gorgeous smile on, and considering the way you just kissed me... damn, what were you dreaming? I really want to know!" Kevin said, waiting for Laura to share her dream. Normally, she didn't remember her dreams, or so that's what she told him, especially when it was this dream in particular. Yes, it was her recurring dream once again, and even though she was now certain that the couple in her dream represented her and Kevin, she was still a little embarrassed to share it. Besides, Laura liked that she could still maintain a little bit of "mystery" with Kevin by not telling him what she dreamed.

"Well, you're out of luck, Kevin. I don't remember what I was dreaming," Laura said, knowing that he probably expected that anyway, which he did. "Ehh, that's ok, beautiful. But if you do remember one, let me know, because I want to do what I can to make it come true for you." Laura smiled. You already have made my dreams come true, my love... you already have...

It was 11 AM. There was a knock on the door. Lisa and Howie had come over to meet Misty again with Laura and Kevin. Heather and Bill were there too, because they were standing up in the wedding, and wanted to hear some of Misty's ideas. Laura was excited that so many people wanted to be involved with her and Kevin's special day.

"Hey Lis, hey Howie. C'mon in!" Kevin said as he answered the door. Just as he was about to close the door, Misty arrived.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to almost shut you out," Kevin said, then offered to help her with her books. "You must be Misty. I'm--"

"Kevin... Richardson... yes, I know who you are," Misty said, shaking his hand then handing him some things to carry in for her. "I'm a big fan of you guys myself, so no introductions needed," she added, following Kevin into the living room.

"Hello, Misty--I see you met my husband-to-be," Laura said, kissing Kevin after he set down Misty's things. "Yes I did," Misty said, smiling. She looked about the room saying hello to Howie and Lisa, and Laura introduced her to Heather and Bill. Misty sat down and Kevin when to get her a soda. After a few minutes of small talk, they got down to the business at hand... wedding plans.

"...Well, I'm thinking I'd like classic colors," Laura said. "I've seen a black and white wedding, and it was simple, but so elegant. But, I also seen one that was not so elegant--it looked more like a funeral then a wedding. So maybe if we have more white then black, it won't give the wrong impression. We could throw in some of this shade of blue too... I love that color..." Misty smiled. She loved her job, seeing all of these happy couples making wedding plans--it was all so romantic. Laura continued. "...and Kevin likes blue too, so then everyone's happy!" she finished, smiling at Kevin who smiled back and kissed her, nodding in approval.

"You certainly have a lot of good ideas, Laura. Now what about the cake?" Misty asked, pulling out her books with different pictures and patterns of wedding cakes. She listened and took notes so attentively, as Howie watched her. Wow, I can't believe how "grown up" she's become, he thought. She sure isn't the little girl that used to bug me and her brothers when we were hanging out.

Before they knew it, almost three hours had passed, much like Laura's and Lisa's first meeting with Misty. This time they had ordered pizza and made it a real casual meeting, which was a great change for Misty. Most of her clients were very snobbish and never wanted to socialize while planning. Everything was business but no pleasure, so this was refreshing for her. Plus Misty felt that she got even more accomplished with them in just two meetings than she normally would get done in about 5 or 6. Laura and Kevin were definitely the type of clients that she hoped there would be more of in the business. But now, unfortunately, it was time for Misty to go to one of those no-nonsense clients' homes to do some boring planning with no fun and excitement. Just as Misty was about to leave, Howie's cell phone rang. He excused himself and went into the other room to take the call.

"Well, it's been great! I look forward to seeing you again in another week or so. I don't think I gave you my card when you were in the office on Monday." Misty paused to shuffle through her day planner to get a business card. She pulled one out in a few seconds and handed it to Laura and continued. "Just call me when you know for sure what your schedule is and we'll go from there, OK?" Laura and Kevin smiled. "OK, we'll do that," Laura said, shaking her hand as Kevin held the door for Misty, and Heather and Bill. Since they were going to leave anyway, they offered to help Misty with her things. Just as Misty left, Howie came back into the room and pulled Lisa aside, talking to her.

"I'm sorry, honey. I really can't get out of that meeting. If it weren't such short notice, you know I'd go," Lisa said, after Howie had explained his phone call he received. It was a PR director from Jive Records, asking Howie to represent the Backstreet Boys at a press conference and dinner the following Tuesday night. Considering it was already Friday afternoon, and Lisa had an important meeting at work Tuesday evening, she knew she'd not be able to get out of it. After all, she had moved to Orlando and gotten this job after she and Howie started seeing each other, and so she could be closer to Laura. After their accident, she realized that life was too short to be so far apart. Anyway, with her new job, she didn't feel right asking off on such short notice.

"I'm really sorry, babe... hey, what about your sister?" Lisa suggested. She knew from Laura that Howie's sister, Pollyanna, had often accompanied him to things like this. Howie shook his head. "Nope, no can do. She's in Chicago doing some promotional stuff for her own musical career. I don't know what else to do." Howie sighed, feeling in a bit of a spot. Lisa was still thinking of what he could do. "Hey," she said, her eyes brightening up, "what about Misty? You guys are old friends, maybe she'd like to go. It wouldn't hurt to ask." Howie smiled, and kissed Lisa. "Thanks, doll, you're a genius," he said, running after Misty.

Misty was just about to drive off when she noticed Howie waving frantically at her. She got out of her car and smiled at him. "Hey! Wait a second," he said. Misty walked up to where he was standing on the sidewalk. "Yeah, what's up?" she asked.

Howie told her about the phone call and his predicament that he didn't have anyone to go along with him to the press conference and dinner. "So, anyway, Lisa thought that maybe I should ask you, since we're friends and stuff. Would you be able to go, or is it too short of notice? If you can't, that's OK, I'll figure something out," Howie said, hoping that she would be his godsend.

Misty smiled. "Howie, I would be honored to attend with you. That's so nice of Lisa to think of me," she said. "Well, I'm running a couple minutes late now, but my home phone number is on that card I gave Laura. Give me a call over the weekend and we can arrange things then, OK?" Howie nodded. "Thanks, Misty, you saved my life, girl! Talk to you this weekend," he said, shaking her hand before letting her go on her way. Howie made his way back up to Laura's apartment. He smiled at Lisa.

"Well, it's set! Misty said she'd go. Good thinking, dah-ling," Howie said, kissing Lisa. "Well one of us has to be thinking at all times," she said, pinching him as she went to help Laura and Kevin clean up the pizza plates and napkins and stuff. Soon after everyone collapsed. They had planned an awful lot of things for the wedding today.

Laura was once again impressed with Misty as she thought of all they had discussed today. Kevin shared her feelings. "You weren't kidding, Laura. That girl's a real power-house. Never quit for a second! I'm very happy she's the one helping us," he said, kissing Laura. She smiled. "Well, a girl only gets married once, at least that's all I plan on going through this," she said, winking at Kevin. "I just want a beautiful wedding, and I want it done right. And I think Misty can do it." Kevin smiled sexily at her. "Well, beautiful, any wedding with you in it will be perfect." He kissed her tenderly, as Howie and Lisa saw them as they came in from the kitchen. "Awwwwwwwwww!" they said in unison. Laura and Kevin both motioned with their hands at Howie and Lisa, indicating they should leave. "OK, we can take a hint... see you lovebirds later," Howie said, as he and Lisa found their way out the door...
