"Me? Embarrass you?! Why, what ever do you mean?" Laura replied, innocently.
Jenn couldn't help but laugh. She loved her sister tremendously, but she knew how she was just an overgrown teenybopper at heart, and the events of the morning were going to prove to be too much for her to handle. "Well, need I remind you that you damn near scared the shit out of Ben Affleck? I wouldn't be surprised if he took out a restraining order against you!" she laughed, punching her sister in the leg before turning the corner.
"Oh whatever, I didn't torment him that much. You overdramatize things, that's your problem," Laura said, smirking. "Pay attention to the road, you're gonna miss the turn! I don't wanna be late again today."
"Take a pill... stop being a 'frontseat' driver," she laughed, as she turned off the highway.
True, they fought like cats and dogs sometimes, but Jenn and Laura were actually quite close, despite the fact they didn't grow up together. In fact, they are actually half-sisters, having the same father but different mothers. Laura's parents divorced when she was very young, just a baby. After the divorce, Laura and her mother had moved to Wisconsin, and her father had stayed in Florida. Shortly after, her dad married Debbie, which is Jenn's mom. Then of course, they had Jenn when Laura was three years old. Except for a few holidays every year, Laura and Jenn really never saw each other, but did correspond by letter and occasionally phone, and in the most recent years, the internet.
Two years ago, Jenn had moved to Orlando from Tallahassee, in the hopes of finding a better job. And indeed, she did. She had gotten a job with Point & Shoot, an up-and-coming photography studio that was very popular with the celebrity crowd. And not just celebrities in Orlando, or even Florida for that matter, but the entire country, and growing every day. Just three months ago, Jenn had asked Laura if she would be interested in moving to Florida. Laura worked as a hairstylist and makeup artist for a local television station in Wisconsin, and although she loved her line of work, she had been unhappy with her job for some time. So, Jenn had told Laura about a job opening at P & S for a hair and makeup artist, so she applied for the job via email, and by the end of the next day, she had the job. Two weeks later, she was in Florida, living with Jenn.
"Look, I know I was kinda sassy when Ben Affleck was in the studio--"
"A LITTLE?!" Jenn interrupted. "He looked like a deer caught in headlights, Laura."
"Overdramatizing..." Laura said, proving her point. "But seriously," she continued, smiling, "I'm really thankful you helped me get this job. I just wasn't going anywhere anymore with my job at WTZR, and just really felt like I was in the eternal dead-end. I may get starstruck sometimes, but I do get the job done, don't I?"
Laura did have a point. She was very good at what she does, as was Jenn. "Yeah, you're right, I'm sorry. Can't blame me for teasin' ya, though," she laughed, as she shut off the car. "Here we go again. Another day, another dolla," she sighed, stretching as she got out of the car. "I tell ya, these early morning shoots are killin' me."
"Yeah, well, as soon as they finish the new part of the studio, then they can be a little bit more flexible with the bookings, but for now, we gotta get hikin' or we're gonna be late!" Laura said, pointing to her watch. Hurriedly, they ran for the employee entrance.
