Crystals
The Symphony of the Earth
Crystals and precious stones generally, were formed in nature eons ago in a slow geological process, and are the only known non-organic substances which can grow.
The word Crystal is derived from the Greek word krystallos which means ice. The word itself defines a body bound by plane surfaces.
The Crystalline State describes the strict arrangement of atoms within the structure of the crystal, which repeats itself identically at the rate of 100 million times per centimetre.
The Crystal System classes all crystals into 7 groups which obey the physical laws of symmetry. The groups are: cubic, three equal axes; hexagonal, four axes; tetragonal, two axes at right angles to each other; orthorhombic, three unequal axes at one obtuse angle; monoclinic, three unequal axes all at obtuse angles; triclinic; three unequal axes, all at obtuse angles; trigonal, three horizontal, unequal axes, one vertical.
Crystals have been revered, collected and worn since the earliest times. Bishop Isadore of Seville wrote what is probably the first manuscript entirely devoted to the esoteric properties of crystals as early as 620 AD, but crystals were mentioned in the Bible. In Exodus 28:15-30, God gave detailed instructions for the making of a 'Breastplate of Judgement', which had four rows of three gems set in gold. There are differing versions of the gems utilised depending upon which version of the Bible that you read.
The King James version of the Bible lists the gems as follows:-
sardius, topaz, carbuncle, emerald, sapphire, diamond, ligure, agate, amethyst, beryl, onyx, jasper.
The Holy Scriptures according to the Masoretic Text:-
carnelian, topaz, smaragd, carbuncle, sapphire, emerald, jacinth, agate, amethyst, beryl, onyx, jasper.
The Holy Bible - The New International Version:-
ruby, topaz, beryl, turquoise, sapphire, emerald, jacinth, agate, amethyst, chrysolite, onyx, jasper.
Each gem was said to be representative of the names of the 12 tribes of Israel (Jacob's twelve sons were the chieftains of the Twelve Tribes) and there are correlations to the 12 zodiacal signs in Judaic tradition.
In the order of their birth, the twelve sons were named Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issacher, Zebulon, Joseph and Benjamin.
Dan is definitely established as representing Scorpio in Jacob's last blessing, when he said: "Dan is a snake, a serpent in the path, that biteth at the horse's heels so that the rider falleth backward," referring of course to Scorpio at the heels of the Centaur or Sagittarius.
So if indeed the ordering of their birth is correct and Dan was respresentative of the Scorpionic type, then Naphtali, would represent Sagittarius, Gad that of the Capricorn type, Asher would represent Aquarius, Issacher Pisces, Zebulon would be Aries, Joseph - Taurus and Benjamin Gemini, Reuben would represent Cancer, Simeon that of Leo, Levi the Sign of Virgo, and Judah that of the Sign of Libra.
It is generally considered that the modern prototype of the tribe of Judah is the British nation; of Dan, Italy; of Naphtali, the United States; and of Reuben, the Jews.
The twelve layers of the foundation walls of the New Jerusalem (Rev. xxi: 19-20) were built of:
1. Jasper, an opalescent or greenish stone.
2. Sapphire, a blue, transparent gem.
3. Chalcedony, pale gray, translucent quartz.
4. Emerald, green, transparent beryl.
5. Sardonyx, onyx with layers of sard, a brownish, red chalcedony.
6. Sardius, probably a ruby.
7. Chrysolite, blue-green magnesium iron silicate.
8. Beryl, probably bluish-green or aquamarine.
9. Topaz, a yellow sapphire.
10. Chrysoprase, a light green chalcedony.
11. Jacinth, a stone the color of hyacinth.
12. Amethyst, purple or blue-violet quartz.
Crystals have, by the sheer nature of their crystalline structure and their slow growth, what may be termed a dim, - extremely dim - extremely rudimentary consciousness which can be influenced by a certain frequency or vibration.
This influence is a subtle thing, a matter of making the crystalline lines of force vibrate to a certain feeling and then in turn be able to release that feeling back to a human mind. This property makes crystals excellent choices as talismans of virtues.
Crystals hold measurable electromagnetic power or piezoelectric properties which can intensify the human electromagnetic field or aura {clearly demonstrable through Kirlian photography}, aiding in clarifying thoughts, channeling energy and healing. The piezoelectric effect is a common property of life, affecting many things including crystals and
essential oils, DNA and the crystalline mineral apatite which is found around the collagen fibres in bones and tissue. Electrical energy is produced when pressure is exerted upon the electrons of a thing, and that pressure or tension can be provided by many things - the vibratory pattern of thought being only one example.The flow of electrons through the crystal, combined with its ability to resonate with, amplify and transmute your own personal energy, {as well as being objects of beauty}, exemplifies how crystals can be such useful and positive tools {a focus} for working on the human mind, body and soul.
By placing a specific crystal on a specific chakra, you can evoke and stimulate the most subtle of forces, empowering your meditations, and balancing your personal energy, whilst gaining increased energy and insights.
Each chakra has an associated colour (or colours) and each of these colors can be easily associated with the colours of the crystals or minerals which affect that area of the body.
Here is a list of the 7 major chakras and their associated colours:
1st chakra - The Root or Base
Primary color is red, other colors associated with the Root Chakra are black brown, and grey.
2nd chakra - The Naval or Sacral
Primary color is orange, others are all various shades of orange/reds.
3rd chakra - The Solar Plexus
Primary color is yellow, others are various shades of yellow.
4th chakra - The Heart
Primary color is green and shades of green, the secondary color is pink.
5th chakra - The Throat
Primary color is light blue like aqua or turquoise, secondary colors are various shades of lighter blues.
6th chakra - The Third eye or brow, or forehead.
Primary color is indigo or various shades of dark blue.
7th chakra - The Crown
Primary color is violet, the secondary colors are shades of purple, golden, and colorless (clear) or white.
The body needs all 7 colour rays: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.
Each colour ray is associated with one or more (depending on which reference you use) of the chakras. By using the colour ray that supports a particular chakra, you can speed healing of the associated areas and organs.

There are almost as many opinions as there are authorities when it comes to assignation of jewels and precious stones in astrology, but the following list expresses more or less a consensus in the West: -
Sun: Diamond, ruby, carbuncle.
Moon: Crystal, pearl, opal, moonstone; all milk-white stones.
Mercury: Quicksilver, loadstone.
Venus: Emerald and, possibly, sapphire.
Mars: Bloodstone, flint, malachite, red haematite.
Jupiter: Amethyst, turquoise.
Saturn: Garnet, jet, all black stones.
Uranus: Chalcedony, lapis lazuli, jacinth, amber.
Neptune: Coral, aquamarine, ivory.
Pluto: Beryl, sardonyx; jade, cloissone enamels, ceramics.
It should be recognised that all stones, precious and semi-precious, as stones, come more or less directly under Saturn, the overall ruler of all hard minerals. Authorities differ so widely on this subject that to settle the question of assignation, each stone would have to be examined with respect to its mineral components before deciding the planet to which it should rightfully be assigned.
PROGRAMMING CRYSTALS
There are two basic energies that crystals possess: projective, or receptive . Projective stones tend to be strong, bright and forceful. Receptive stones are calm, inward and peacful.
As tools for higher consciousness, crystals are particularly effective, for they can be 'programmed' to vibrate in harmony with human energy. This process of programming is called "dedication".
You can dedicate crystals to just about anything:- to healing; empowering yourself; to increasing your intuitive powers. They can be dedicated to such things as keeping your home in balance, keeping it safe and generally enhancing the energy of those who live in it.
You can dedicate crystals generally, to support you to achieve a specific outcome or goal or; adapt them for a particular individual; ensoul them as a definite centre of radiation; or they may be linked with the practitioner as an outpost of his consciousness.
Dedicating crystals requires you to concentrate your thoughts into the crystal so that its energy is directed along with your own to achieve your goals.
Before dedicating a crystal, it should first be "cleansed".
Cleansing your crystals means cleansing of memories, programmes and negativities that they may have collected in their journey to you.
Some methods of cleansing are as follows:
• Soak them in sea water for three to seven days
• Cover them in sea or rock salt for three to seven days
• Leave them in direct sunlight for five or more hours
• Place them in the earth with point up overnight
• Visualise and instruct the crystal to clear itself of all content.
To dedicate your crystal, hold the crystal in your right {projective} hand and place the right hand in the left {receptive} hand. Gaze beyond the crystal's surface into the matrix of the crystal. Concentrate on visualising your goal/need and imagine it projected into the crystalline lattice. Speak aloud your goal into the crystal. For seven days and nights, keep the crystal on your person at all times; reinforcing your objective at each opportunity that the thought arises. Each night meditate upon your goal with the crystal in your right hand under the light of the Moon for several minutes. Speak the goal into the crystal a total of 108 times each day.
It is important when dedicating your crystal to include all details, including by what date, how much you want and location etc.
Be very careful to choose something which will be beneficial to your own or someone else's evolutionary/spiritual development otherwise the crystal may amplify a negative message if you choose something out of greed alone.
When the programming is complete, the crystal is worn on the body or kept in a silk bag of corresponding colour close by.
CHOOSING CRYSTALS
The main point in choosing a crystal is in trusting to your own intuitive attraction. {Remember, your left hand is the receptive hand and is used to 'pick up vibrations'.} Or you might choose it according to its ascribed function; sign of the zodiac or elemental affinity; or according to colour and then the particular specimen that most suits.
When choosing them as gifts, first imagine the person in your mind, or feel them in your heart, then concentrate on the crystals.
Then find the one your intuition seems to tell you that fits the person that you are thinking of - If it looks and feels right - it will be.
THE SHAPE CLASSIFICATION OF CRYSTALS
* Single Terminators
The most common type of crystal. The six sides terminate at a point which acts as the focus for the crystal’s energy. Used for healing and general use.
* Double Terminators
These crystals have points at both ends. much rarer than single point crystals, these double pointed stones project energy from both ends creating a unified energy field. They are excellent for meditative and healing energy empowerment.
* Clusters
These are stunningly beautiful groups of varied size crystals sharing a common base. Clusters are especially good for group situations - like company boardrooms or the family living room - Clusters help to create balance and harmony. You can find quite unique cluster shapes and colours. Clusters are ideal for cleansing and recharging other crystals - place the crystal on top of your cluster for about 5 hours.
* Polished Generators
These are crystals enhanced by skilful polishing and sometimes shaping of the point to better focus the energy flow. These crystals respond well to programming.
* Pyramid
The pyramid is a powerful geometric form. pyramid crystals focus energy at the apex, therefore making them ideal for meditation and as room crystals.
* Crystal Balls
The spherical shape of the ball is a symbol of perfection. Gazing into or meditating with a crystal ball helps you recall and release the past- and perhaps view your future. Ideal for massaging.
* Crystal Wands.
Crystal wands offer a smooth end which can be used for massaging a particular area and a natural point for focusing the crystal’s energy into that particular area.
Please remember that no stone can magically transform your life or health, however, combined with your Will, and Universal Love, crystals can assist you to bring about those changes that you most desire.
