Where can the debate start?
Here is a small list of things which I think both sides of the argument can agree on. I would welcome any comments (please, tell me if you agree or disagree me, I am after responses to this, silence will tell me nothing) and any additions would be most appreciated.

Are we all talking about the same thing?

  • God is not scientifically falsifiable
  • We can calculate the half lives of radioactive elements accurately (I am just talking about now, not making any comments about the past here).
  • The Earth is covered with sedimentary rocks containing fossils
  • Natural selection can produce changes (the amount of change is not agreed).
  • Now, onto something else. Below is a diagram of the geologic column. Without making any statements about the ages involved (the 'Era' and 'Period' columns can be considered useful labels not date stamps) do you agree that this is what is found, in this order (with sections missing, sometimes inverted, but never mixed up) when examining rocks?

    Era

    Period

    Cenezoic

    Quaternary

    Cretaceous

Flowering plants dominate; extinction of large reptiles and ammonites

    Jurrasic

Reptiles dominate on land/sea and air; first birds

    Triassic

First dinosaurs/turtles/Icthyosaurs/ pleisosaurs; cycads and conifers dominate

    Paleozoic
