THE LION OF THE SUN

By Richard A. Distasi

This is a story of a boy named Christopher whose soul and spirit would be changed forever on this day. It was the height of summer and Christopher was making his way to his favorite place; a small area of woods not far from his home. It was a typical summer's day with the sun blazing down on him while everything was alive with all the sounds of summer. Christopher made his way to the woods and entered them alone. As he entered the woods, he suddenly noticed that something was very different today. There was a sense of a deep stillness in the woods. It was much quieter than ever before. At once the woods became very dark and almost completely without any light. Christopher began to become frightened as a strange sensation that he had never felt before came over him.

Out of nowhere from the tops of the trees a bright shaft of light broke through the darkness and created a spherical aura of light before him. From out of this aura of light that crackled with blue and white crystal-like light, came fairies that were smaller than his hand. They began to fly all around him. However, no sooner did this happen when he noticed something beginning to take shape within the light. It then slowly began to move out of the light and suddenly shaped itself into a golden lion. As it did so, seven radiantly pink-white roses with beautiful blue auras appeared on the ground in a semi-circle in front of the golden lion. The lion then begins to speak to Christopher in a voice that fills the entire woods. He says: "Do not be afraid. I AM the lion of the sun. Your soul stands at the portal of a great initiation. You have entered here not by accident but by destiny. A destiny that lives in your soul and spirit. A destiny that begins by passing through the portal; the Door into the eternal; the Door into the realms of soul and spirit. I AM the beginning and the end of your journey of destiny."
