Scuba Trish's Health Page
Hi! I'm Scuba Trish. I have been interested in health since I was a very young child. I always knew I'd be a nurse. After I took nursing in college, instead of getting my fill of health information, I was left wanting more. So I went to university where I graduated with an honours degree in Health. I now have a wealth of information, concepts, and theories. I have researched many health related topics and philosophies. At this point, I am left back at the beginning:
I have come to the realization that all things are both good for us, and bad for us. It just depends on quantity, frequency, and intensity. If you watch the news or listen to "reports" you will have heard conflicting messages. For example: alcohol is bad for our bodies, and at the same time a glass of wine everyday will decrease your chances of getting high cholesterol, and certain types of cancer. You will have heard that jogging is the best exercise and the worst. Although it is a powerful calorie burning exercise jogging is reported to make your breasts sag, your bladder fall and your knees crumble. These are just two examples of the condradictory "reports" that plague us every day.
It seems to me that almost anything done in excess is unhealthy and most things, when done in moderation and reason, and with a varied frequency is better. For example, if you have a glass of wine on occasion that will not hurt you (unless you have a personal condition or moral objection to it). If you vary your exercise routine on a daily basis, you will not suffer those injuries or damages caused by one specific exercise.
The key is Variety, and Balance.
