BUY A HOME, HELP THE ENVIRONMENT

Read on, it is true.

This is a great house and property, a quality house for any investor. It is a very beautifully landscaped property with a fine one story house on it.

This lovely 3 bedroom,2 bath house and one acre property 20 minutes south of Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii drew us to it as soon as we saw it, especially the grounds which are graciously landscaped with the natural flow of the land. It is very private, with lots of space, natural beauty, outdoor recreation area, fenced, in a nice neighborhood with large properties. If it sounds like the house for you or someone you know, take action right away.

NATURAL BEAUTY AND PRIVACY

The house is so nice and private with trees on all sides of the back and front yerds. There are acres on both sides which are natural forest with native ferns, wild orchids, and diverse native trees. There is a Mac Nut orchard across the street and a wide nice fenced landscaped lawn in front and in back. Because of the orchard across the street and the natural acres of trees on both sides, you cannot see any of the other houses on your street. It is also private in that from the street it looks an ordinary house, but almost everyone who walks in says Wow, it is so much bigger than it looks from the street. When you walk around your property, you will catch glimpses of the ocean, or in winter you can see the snow covered top of Mauna Kea.

FEEL ONE WITH NATURE

Living in this home, you can experience what we did, a real appreciation of the soft breezes and beauties of nature. There is the rich sound of many birds, the dawn chorus, the morning shower just before the sun rises, then clear skies. We developed a gradual attunement to the rhythms of the natural world around. Did you know each rain shower has its own distinct breeze that precedes it? You feel more safe walking around knowing there are no snakes on Hawaii. We flowed with the natural pace of nature here more than any other place. At night, there are few lights to interfere with the bright starry sky. The reason is that outdoor lights on roads and in the city are designed to not give off ambiant light that might disturb the world famous scientific giant observatories on Mauna Kea.

FINE NEIGHBORHOOD, GREAT CLIMATE

Hawaii is always a wonderful temperature, not too hot or cold, with a year round growing season and t-shirts almost every day. The area gets plenty of sunshine for solar energy and enough rain to not need sprinklers systems. There is a rocky coastline with crashing waves a short bike ride near, and 25 minutes by car to surfing beaches. The area is like country, yet near a city(20 minutes) with a university, and all the other conveniences and attreactions of a friendly city. All the homes in this neighborhood along the coast have a minimum of one acre each, many with more. On our quiet street we often met our neighbors out jogging or walking. Majority of the neighbors have owned businesses or been self-employed. The university, UH-Hilo, is connected to world - level scientific exploration, distinguished by links to the world famous big telescopes attop Mauna Kea, as well as the volcanology and oceanography specialties.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITY AREA

There is a fun basketball court that you can rollerblade on out back. When we were putting in the basketball court, I got a little carried away and we let the shape of it flow with the contours of the land. By adding loops that flow up and around trees and rocks, it is a particularly unique and lovely natural place to bike or rollerblade, as well as play basketball. The kids like to do all three at once. There is even a speed bump to make it more fun. The picture shows it before the basketball hoop went up.

WALK THE LABYRINTH

We even had a 7-cycle labyrinth out back next to the basketball court. There is a picture of the labyrinth in the picture pages. Labyrinths are wonderful for ADD kids because they help them focus, etc. They are great relaxation walks and even meditation walks for all ages. If you have not enjoyed walking a labyrinth, you should. They have a rich history and tradition, and everyone who used ours just loved it. Ours was temporary, but the area is in place and ready for a more permanent one.

WELL APPOINTED, COMFORTABLE

It is a nice 3 bedroom, 2 bath, one story house on 1 acre with additional one acre available next door. There are open beamed ceilings, rising from 8 ft to 12 ft in all rooms of the house, tall people feel wonderful here. It catches all the breezes. Nicely finished with skylights, all wood panelling & ceramic tile throughout. Double sink in 6' counter & skylight in master bath. Wall to wall to ceiling built-in all wood shelves in 2 bedrooms. Cable and good internet connections. Catchment water - no more water bills. Sliding glass door with deck off back bedroom. Big picture windows to bring outdoors in. A 44 ft by 10 ft screened lanai to enjoy the soft breezes. In each direction are beautiful arrangements of trees and plants, you feel relaxed just looking out the lanai or any window in the house. Well built. This house was a lovely home to us, and it will be for someone else, too.

ROOM TO BE CREATIVE

With back deck and patio and big picture windows, it is a great backyard party house. Sounds nice, does it not? I put in recent improvements: new roof, new 10,000 gallon water tank, skylights, deck, basketball court. I left the natural acre natural, just made narrow paths up and down and around so the kids could play great pirates or adventures in their own woods. You could build or plant produce or put in additional recreational facilities, like a pool, etc. With a whole acre you have plenty of space to be creative, to plant or build or just create your own special spaces. And plenty of the property is still in its native plants if you want to focus on preserving the native Hawaiian vegetation.

YEAR ROUND GROWING SEASON IS GARDENER'S DELIGHT

The house is on one acre with additional acre aavailable with rare trees plus coconut palms, macadamia nuts, bananas, lemons, pineapples, berries. For many plants there is a year round growing season. The sun shines often for good growing, and it rains early morning and late afternoon much of the year, so sprinklers are unnecessary. One acre still has many native plants including rare and hard to grow ferns and trees. All you need to bring is your green thumb.

IF YOU HAVE A GREEN THUMB, YOU CAN SAVE RARE TREES

The rare trees are Ohia trees with Golden Lehua blossoms, and with special care(they have no seeds) they can survive and increase. There is a whole page, Environmentalists look here! devoted to explaining about how to grow more of these rare trees and about the need for people prepared to do something to help preserve the endangered and rare native species in Hawaii.

GREAT HOME FOR ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVIST

This home is uniquely suited to an environmental activist because it is near where the American rainforest is lost on this island every year. And, of course, because you have the unique opportunity to personally propagate and sell rare trees because they are on your own property. Go to other page for more information on environmental issues in Hawaii.
