Certain ones among you have said:
"He it is Who hath laid claim to be God." By
God! This is a gross calumny. I
am but a servant of God Who hath believed in Him
and in His signs, and in His Prophets
and in His angels. My tongue, and My
heart, and My inner and My outer
being testify that there is no God but Him,
that all others have been created
by His behest, and been fashioned through the
operation of His Will. There is none
other God but Him, the Creator, the Raiser
from the dead, the Quickener, the
Slayer. I am He that telleth abroad the favors
with which God hath, through His
bounty, favored Me. If this be My
transgression, then I am truly the
first of the transgressors. I and My kindred
are at your mercy. Do ye as ye please,
and be not of them that hesitate, that I
might return to God My Lord, and
reach the place where I can no longer behold
your faces. This, indeed, is My dearest
wish, My most ardent desire. Of My state
God is, verily, sufficiently informed,
observant.
-- Bahá'u'lláh, Gleanings
from the Writings of Baha'u'llah, p. 228
At this time the breeze of God is
wafted and the spirit of God hath surrounded.
The pen is withheld from motion and
the tongue hath ceased utterance. Briefly:
In this station the declaration of
divinity and the like have appeared from them,
while in the station of messengership
they have declared prophethood. Likewise
in every station they have made a
declaration expedient thereto and have attributed
all these to themselves; (declarations)
concerning the world of command, the world
of creation, the worlds of divinity,
and the worlds of phenomena. Therefore whatever
they may say and claim, including
divinity,
deity, prophethood, messengership,
successorship,
imamat or servitude is true and without doubt. Consequently
these
proven statements should be reflected
upon, that no one may be overtaken in the
sayings of the Manifestations of
the Invisible and Dawning-places of Holiness.
-- Bahá'u'lláh, Baha'i
scriptures, p. 48
It hath ever been evident that all
these divergencies of utterance are attributable
to differences of station. Thus,
viewed from the standpoint of their oneness and
sublime detachment, the attributes
of Godhead, Divinity, Supreme Singleness, and
Inmost Essence, have been, and are
applicable to those Essences of Being, inasmuch
as they all abide on the throne of
Divine Revelation, and are established upon the seat
of Divine Concealment. Through their
appearance the Revelation of God is made
manifest, and by their countenance
the Beauty of God is revealed. Thus it is that the
accents of God Himself have been
heard uttered by these Manifestations of the
Divine Being.
Viewed in the light of their second
station--the station of distinction, differentiation,
temporal limitations, characteristics
and standards--they manifest absolute servitude,
utter destitution, and complete self-effacement.
Even as He saith: "I am the servant of
God.
I am but a man like you."...
-- Bahá'u'lláh, Gleanings
from the Writings of Baha'u'llah, p. 53
Assist ye, O My people, My chosen
servants who have arisen to make mention of
Me among My creatures and to exalt
My Word throughout My realm. These, truly,
are the stars of the heaven of My
loving providence and the lamps of My
guidance unto all mankind. But he
whose words conflict with that which hath
been sent down in My Holy Tablets
is not of Me. Beware lest ye follow any
impious pretender. These Tablets
are embellished with the seal of Him Who
causeth the dawn to appear, Who lifteth
up His voice between the heavens and
the earth. Lay hold on this Sure
Handle and on the Cord of My mighty and
unassailable Cause.
-- Bahá'u'lláh, The
Kitab-i-Aqdas, p. 61
O servant! Warn thou the servants
of God not to reject that which they do not
comprehend. Say, implore God to open
to your hearts the portals of true
understanding that ye may be apprised
of that of which no one is apprised.
Verily, He is the Giver, the Forgiving,
the Compassionate.
Thou hast moreover asked Me concerning
the ordinances of God. Know thou of a
truth that whatsoever hath been prescribed
in the Book is indeed the truth, no
doubt is there about it, and it is
incumbent upon everyone to observe that
which hath been sent down by Him
Who is the Revealer, the All-Knowing. Were a
man to put them away despite his
being aware thereof, God would truly be clear
of such a one and We too would be
clear of him, inasmuch as His ordinances
constitute the fruits of the divine
Tree and none other than the heedless and
the wayward will deviate therefrom.
-- Bahá'u'lláh, Tablets
of Baha'u'llah, p. 188-189
As to my station, it is that of the
servant
of Bahá; `Abdu'l-Bahá, the visible
expression of servitude to the Threshold
of the Abhá Beauty.
-- `Abdu'l-Bahá, Selections
from the Writings of Abdu'l-Baha, p. 56
30. O SON OF MAN!
Deny not My
servant should he ask anything from thee, for his
face is My face be
then abashed before Me.
-- Bahá'u'lláh, The
Hidden Words of Baha'u'llah.
The Independent
Prophet (Baha'u'llah) is the Face of God and
receives his
revelation
directly from God. The dependent prophets are the Face of the
Independent
Prophet and receive their revelation from the Independent
Prophet (Baha'u'llah)
as indicated above -- they are also the Face of God.
"be then abashed
before Me" -- recognise the station/sovereignity
of the
prophet --
the sovereignity of God.
