RAMSEY, FRANCIS ALEXANDER, born 12/17/1764 in Essex County, Virginia, died 12/26/1842, Rockcastle Co., KY., married MARTHA ALLEN(May 20, 1768 - August 25, 1842, Rockcastle County, KY.), per letter of Clerk of Circuit Court Office, September 16, 1969 in Powhatan County, Virginia on May 28, 1788.
Francis Ramsey was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. (Warrant 8542) He applied for his pension in 1830 at the age of 67 from Rockcastle Co. KY. He states he enlisted in 1779. A. Buford attests he knew Francis Ramsey in the war. His widow, Martha Allen will apply in 1843 when she will state she has lived in Rockcastle for the past 25 years. A nephew will attest in this application. An extensive Bible Record is made a part of the application, thus the many dates of births given in this group.
