Thanks to the "above and beyond the call of duty" efforts of Doris Redford, Wanda Wilson, ....., and a multitude of others, the 2001 Self Family Quilt and Auction project was a super success!
At the September 22, 2001 Gathering of Cave Country Self descendants at the Holiday Inn in Cave City, KY., this beautiful quilt was auctioned, and to this highest bidder - Mr Bill Self of Trafalgar, Indiana, went this family quilt.
Proceeds from this auction went to the Self Family Newsletter's - Thelma Nolan Cornfeld Scholarship Award which rewards college students of Self family descendant for their education in history and genealogy.

The fourth annual Gathering of Cave Country Selfs will again be held in Mammoth Cave, KY., September 2002, and is of special interest to the many descendants of brothers John and Edward Self, early settlers to this area.
