In Australia -
Everything is BIG Girls and their power-toys! Finally - we got her locked away. Is that Chrissy screwing???? Could be Andy screwing??? The finished product! TA DA |
Dfer the dog wanting to drive... he
really is quite good at it. The sign telling us we have arrived at 1770 - the birthplace of Queensland. This was the place that Captain Cook first set foot on Australian soil. Now this photo tells us everything we need to know about the town including how far the petrol station is from the pub.. it was a lovely place and we spent two days there in the sun fishing and exploring the beautiful beaches. |
The Whistling Ship - word of warning.. if
you see the sign for this.. dont go and see it.. cos it
is pretty boring.. though when the wind is blowing..
apparently the pipes make noises.. though we
unfortunately missed it. Oh well. The view from the headland at Yeppoon - looking across to the Whitsundays. Introducing George - our car with attitude!!!! He is a real bastard. A swimming hole.. is supposed to be a watefall but it was not working. Another waterfall... kinda working. Another waterfall - definetely not working. The track to the non-existant waterfall.. though you can see why.. it had not rained for months.. everything was soooooo dry. Driving up the coast we came across a lot of fires and dried up creeks. Now this one was working.. though would look spectacular with more water. Posing in front of the waterfall. Ditto as above. Coming over the mountain range with rain approaching. Was absolutely spectacular. Andy checking out the flora and fauna of the area. You can see the rain on the distant mountains. Another picture of the same place without Andy in it. Another big storm approaching. We went from driving in sunburnt dry country to lush green tropical rainforest. Paronella Park.. a historic Spanish Park built by human hands in the early 1900's. Apparently this place was built by a man with a dream and with no plans. It is rustic and absolutely beautiful. We camped there for a couple of days. Andy admiring the view from one of the bridges.... the work was magnificent.. hard to believe that this man built it all himself. The happy couple posing in front of the waterfall. Looking across the swimming lake towards the hydro system. When this place was first built.. it was totally self-sufficient with the man building his own power station and using the power of the waterfall to run the Palace. A photo of the waterfall from the Hydro room. A view of the swimming hole from the suspension bridge. The river that flows right through the Park. This was the tennis court and fountain area. Andy coming out of the swimming hole. The water was quite cold. If you look closely enough.. you can see Andy at the bottom of the waterfall.. he decided to swim out to it. Apparently in its hey day.. the owner had a boat and would row visitors and friends out and behind the falls (also his enemies...hehehe. Roz after having some fun in the water. Hmmm.... ok.. so we are in crocodile country now..... Lets go fishing!!!!!!! But look what I caught. Andy had no luck though I hauled in hundreds opf these little buggers.. all undersize and no good to us.. but a lot of run to catch. |
The start of Andy's bug
collection. A big dragonfly that he knocked out. A rhinocerous beetle. They hiss when you grab them. A great big spider. This is called a Golden Orb spider. To get the right size of her... Andy spread out his hand and she as still just a bit bigger. And lightning fast. We used to throw moths into her web.. and you would not see her go after them... just bang.. she was there. Gave Roz the creeps though... being terrified of spiders. Along the Higway towards Port Douglas. Some of the most beautiful views. Apparently this road is known for its scenic beauty. Though Port Douglas was a disappointment to us. Way too touristy. Another beach And another one. Can you tell we are driving along the coast. Clouds covering a mountain in Cairns. All the mountains here are covered with rainforest. Andy made a great mate at the park. Introducing Riley.. who loved Andy and copied everything he did and wore. |
