Discovering new zeniths seems to be my motto, given my pursuits. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from CSU Dominguez Hills, then completed USC's Accelerated Teacher Internship whereby I was hired by
LAUSD.
Community service is a passion of mine, so I became an active member of the 5-4 Optimist Club of Southern California, the first African-American chapter spearheaded by my mother, Margie Evans. The club received several kudos, including Distinguished President Award, before it was disbanded for a larger vision, namely Los Angeles Music Week, Inc.
The Lord's joy is my strength, so that energy is the source for my love of writing lyrics, poetry and prose, cultural dances, aerobics, sports and
outdoor activities like skating and riding. It's one of my many blessings, along with my many classmates who I am glad to see at such wonderful reunions!
I'd love to share one of the many inspirations that cross my desktop, for it influences my "open at the top" philosophy. It's called,
"GOD SHOW ME."
The man whispered, "God, speak to me."
And a meadowlark sang.
But, the man did not hear.
So the man yelled, "God, speak to me!"
And the thunder rolled across the sky.
But, the man did not listen.
The man looked around and said, "God let
me see you." And a star shined brightly.
But, the man did not notice.
And the man shouted, "God show me a
miracle!" And a life was born.
But, the man did not know.
So, the man cried out in despair, "Touch
me God, and let me know you
are here!"
Whereupon, God reached down
and touched the man. But, the man
brushed the butterfly away and walked on.
Don't miss out on a blessing because it
isn't packaged the way that you
expect it to be.
May you be mightily blessed to realize your innermost dreams!
