Step inside this thought, my love
As it seeps through the pores of your soul
Acquaint yourself with its pleasing perfume,
Savour its taste with the buds of your tongue
And memorise the curves of its figure

Hold in your hands the words my love
With the gentle touch of a feather’s blade
As if you’re embracing butterflies,
Safeguarding their wings from predator’s jaw
Or from the flame of misfortune

Write upon this idea, my love
Make a million words from a glistening tear
Proclaim its beauty in opulent hue
Immortalise all in sentiment, you
Must have faith in your pen’s creation

Stitch needlepoint of this design, love
Every cross depicting in rainbow thread
The sentiments born in a flowery bed
Let the depth of truth we lovers share
Shine light to the uncomprehending

Float calmly beside this conviction, my love
In the warm azure waters that haze your smile
Swim gracefully by with the smoothest of strokes
And let only thought’s melody envelope
Our peaceful, most tranquil perception

But never doubt the intention, my love
For if this thought lives a thousand strong years
Then drowns in an ocean of shimmering tears
If fools attack all with their poison-tipped spears
Even then shall this woman still love you
