Age of Innocence Two
~~~
A single rose without a thorn
The sign of everlasting love
And rainbow’s end will true love spawn
A shooting star- sign from above
True Love will never fade or die
Once given life by Cupid’s bow
It only takes to wings to fly
And all its little seeds will sow
~~~
Ah thus do words of poets flow
And so do weeds in gardens grow
But few believe this too-sweet tale
We all are too sophisticated
Love could never be so frail
And dare we say uncomplicated
Poets write in metaphor
To offer us some recompense
To compensate we peasants for
The passing age of innocence
Sophistication –great expense
~~~
Well I for one take no offence
No poet lived who e’er made sense
