VR-OT-01 Virtual license plate created for the proposed 1960's "Sky Crown" ski resort at Mineral Valley in California's Sierra Nevada Mountains. The project was stopped by conservation groups to prevent destruction of the scenic area. In 1978 the area was incorporated into the Sequoia National Park as protected land. VR-OT-02 Virtual plate recreated from an image provided by Bob Allmon of California who provided several images of a photo album using the license plate as its cover. The actual plate used for the photo album is aluminum and has a plate ID number of 96B-0457. The plate is also labeled "Not For Official Use", and has a white back. It appears that this plate was produced for sale, but may have been prevented from release due to its look-a-like appearance to the official State of California license plate. VR-OT-03 Virtual plate recreated from an image provided by an e-Bay Seller who was selling an ecologically, handmade, backpack made with a Disney license plate. The actual plate used for the backpack is aluminum. The plate is also labeled "Not For Official Use". The "validation tabs" used on this plate are identical to the ones used on the VR-OT-02 plate. It appears that this plate was produced for sale, but may have been prevented from release due to its look-a-like appearance to an official State of New York license plate.
