Dear, Dear friends...
- Darren / Tristan, Aerienne, Odyssa; Igan
-- Early morning of Day Three

by Lum

After what seemed like an eternity to Darren, the dark outline of a rather small island finally emerged in the soft light of dawn, looming larger and larger as the ship steadily approached. Darren's eyes turned bright.

"Oh, is it Igan? Is it?" he turned to ask a burly crewman who was steering the helm beside him, his voice eager.

The big man named Kev nodded. He was a silent sort of fellow, and after numerous tries to strike up a conversation with him and failing every time, Darren had given up.

"Can't we move a little faster, then?" he asked after a pause.

"Will you just stop bugging Mister Kev?" Odyssa came to the quiet fellow's rescue with an exaggerated sigh.Darren looked a bit injured.

On the other side, Hudson laughed and Aerienne decided not to comment.

-------------------------------------

ristan sat along on the beach, still a bit too weak to stand. Dawn had arrived not long ago; the warm glow of golden sunlight was dim but evenly chased the dull velvet darkness in the sky away. He felt as if he hadn't seen something this beautiful and comforting since Sam's death. Many things had happened during the past two days - all sorts of things.

He was still musing when he caught the familiar sight of his ship appearing not far off the north, drawing closer as the minutes gone by. Tristan, despite his physical weakness, smiled.

--------------------------------------

br> Darren screwed his face up in a squint. He could see more clearly now that they were closer, and that blond man sitting on the beach had to be his pirate friend!

He didn't bother to wait for the ship to harbor then. He leapt.

--------------------------------------

quot;TRIIIIIIIIIIIIIISTAN!!!!!!!!!!"

The blond started. The first thing he saw before he was tackled down was a thick tail of dark red hair almost hitting his face.

"/Oof!/"

He looked down at the redhead who clung to him tightly. "Darren?"

The younger boy slowly lifted his face and, much to Tristan's surprise, very deliberately pinched Tristan's bare arm. He gave out a little yelp of pain.

"What did you do that for?" he accused half-heartedly, laughing.

Darren blinked. Then suddenly he was no longer to contain happy tears. "You really are alive, Tris!" he choked the words out between uncontrollable sobs, his liquid scarlet eyes glistening. Sniffing, he wiped at them uselessly in embarrassment.

Tristan's sapphire eyes widened, then softened, genuinely touched. He gently drew the boy into his arms, burying his nose in the boy's silken hair.

No words were needed; his very presence was reassuring enough.

HERE. How was that? *smiles nervously*

Oh, and I just realized that I didn't give Darrie-poo any chance to sleep ever since he boarded Tris-baby's ship. ^^x;;
Would any of you ship-tachi Creators who's taking over be so kind as to let him rest for a while? ^_~x
