Infinity

Space…have you ever though about what it was? Well in fact it is nothing, yeah that's right, nothing at all. It is a big giant infinite endless wasteland holding everything at all, not everything on earth, but everything at all, anywhere. So what if not only our planet, not only our galaxy, but the entire cosmos was in threat, what happens when everything at all is gone? There is no anything; heaven, hell, earth, the stars, human souls, all gone, forever. I want you to ponder that thought very carefully, because not only would your thoughts, your memories, your visions be gone, but so would your soul.

The story I will set before you is not a long one, not one of a great man who saves the day, and not one that will keep you in suspense for very long. But the story I will give is one that will make you think, and although you think you know what is out there, why don't you give up your philosophies for a minute and think about what I have to tell you. They say that space is expanding, but what is it expanding into, if it is infinite, it cant get bigger, and how can nothing get bigger in the first place? This story will not explain this, because I can't explain it, but the mysteries of space should tell you that my story is in fact possible.

Scientists had been using telescopes for centuries, and recently the telescopes have been getting bigger and bigger. The newer, bigger ones of course are already in space, in an orbit around our earth, but what do these telescopes really pick up? Information, or maybe something more. The telescopes are used to pick up light, because what we see is actually how the light reflects off an object, but what if an object could travel using light, what if light could be used for more then letting us see pretty colors and lighting up a room, what if light could be used for traveling.

Three Astronauts had been sent up to repair a damaged telescope, and while two were out working on it, the other one was, of course, inside working the controls, The telescope was designed to pick up even the most minute of light rays, and seemed to be working perfectly until it somehow became overloaded, and short circuited. But the cause of the problem was not the worries of these astronauts; the only worries were electrocution and being hurled into space. But as everything was going smoothly, this was not a great cause of fear.

The telescope had been almost repaired, and the new lens was being fitted. The second the lens was put into place, a blinding light sprayed into the faces of the two astronauts, dazed and completely blinded, the two men had to rely on the aide of there fellow inside, who of course got them back inside safely. The blinding was only temporary, it seems, because a few minutes later they could see perfectly, and aside from the strange way they were acting, and the not wanting to talk about the incident, they were back to normal.

But the strange way they were acting was definitely a major part of the incident, for these two highly trained people wouldn't even talk about this event to their comrade. These two people who had trained for years and years for this mission, were now fumbling around, and had not a clue of what to do. There is a type f amnesia which can cause memory loss of only a certain subject, but is this what happened? Or was it something else? Something… deeper.

There are some ideas that can come in dreams, and there are some answers that can also come in dreams, and as the third astronaut slept that night, he had a dream, a dream so terrible it would wake him up in the middle of the night, drenched with sweat, and shivering at the thought of what he dreamt. The dream, it seems, was that of great evil, of some sort of super force, billions of light years away, that was gathering energy, feeding upon the souls of living creatures. The dream he had seemed to fit perfectly with what had been happening with his friends, and it scared him more and more to think about it. But think about it he did, and as he thought about the probabilities of this event, he realized it could never happen, never.

Because in his dream, the strange energy exploded one day, and as it did, it took everything that existed with it. But how can you destroy nothing? How could you even destroy the barriers of nothing, it has no barriers, it goes on eternally, and one simple explosion could not ever destroy infinity, or could it. Is it possible that space does have an end, that somewhere there is a big wall, but what then is outside that wall? What would be beyond space, and would it be good? But this was not the scariest part of his dream, for in his dream… the energy only needed one more.
