Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving;
Sing praises on the harp to our God,
Who covers the heavens with clouds,
Who prepares rain for the earth,
Who makes grass to grow on the mountains.

My New Walk With Jesus Christ

By Chien Kung Yoon
~~~
Before I received Jesus as my Lord and Saviour, I considered all religions to be the same as I believe they teach us to be good. As my parents were Buddhists, I conveniently followed their beliefs. I was not particularly interested in other religions, least of all Christianity. My wife became a Christian nearly ten years ago and she began to invite me to attend church services. I attended several meetings but nevertheless had not much interest in Christianity.
As time went on, it slowly began to dawn on me that Jesus Christ was present at the church services. I began to feel His presence at the meetings. I did not accept Him yet because I was afraid. I felt as if a force of some kind was holding me back. But somehow, something inside was telling me to believe in God without delay.
On 11 December 1999, I attended the Emmanuel Celebration Rally at the Bukit Jalil Stadium. When the speaker called for those who wanted to believe in Jesus to come to the field, I found myself standing up. I began to walk with the others to the field to accept Jesus Christ. I guessed the Holy Spirit moved mightily in me and without a doubt, I raised my hand and accepted the Lord Jesus as my Saviour. I felt the touch of God and am glad I made the right choice.
In the next few months, I began to know more about Jesus Christ through reading the Bible. At the same time, by knowing Him and loving Him every day, I felt peace and harmony in me. My life is now filled with security and confidence. I have a clear conscience over my love for Jesus Christ. I have been blessed tremendously since accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. I have erased my hatred towards my friends and neighbours and have asked God to forgive me even as I have forgiven them.
As I continued to read the Bible, I have some regrets for not accepting Jesus Christ to be my Lord and Saviour earlier. I learnt from the Bible a lot of promises, especially the promise of eternal life, which I did not know until now. I know now that I have made the right choice. What greater joy than to know that I have received the free gift of eternal life as well as the assurance of my salvation from the Lord Jesus Christ, Being a sinner, I can ask Jesus to forgive my sins. By having faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, I can be healed of my sicknesses. Finally, I can place my trust in Him by His Word because of the many great wonders done by Him. All I have to do is to worship Him, praise Him, believe Him and thank Him for accepting me as I am. I am thankful that His Holy Spirit dwells in me all the time.
Finally, I would like to dedicate my testimony to my wife, Margaret, for the many years she has prayed for my salvation. I believe that I have come to know Jesus as my personal Saviour because God was gracious and had chosen to answer her prayers.
