Helen Babb
GREENWOOD — Helen Lubak Babb, 86, former resident of 210 McNeil Ave., widow of William M. Babb, died March 8, 2006 at National Health Care.
Born in Staten Island, NY, December 2, 1919, she was the third of seven children born to Bloeslaw and Victoria Zarowski Lubak who emigrated to the U.S. from Poland. She was retired from St. Vincent’s Hospital in Staten Island, NY.
Mrs. Babb was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the Greenwood Catholic Women’s Club.
She was married to the late William M. Babb for 36 years and is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Bruce Balchin of Greenwood; a brother, Joseph Lubak of NJ and a sister, Katherine Mathies of Staten Island, NY. A step-grandson and wife, Chuck and Jodi Balchin of Greenwood and a step-great grandson, Garron Balchin.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday at Blyth Funeral Home with Father Richard Harris officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home of Susan and Bruce Balchin, 104 Lupo Dr., and will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 Friday morning.

John H. Corley
MODOC — John H. “Pete” Corley, 76, of Flat Rock Road, husband of Helen Clegg Corley, died Thursday, March 9, 2006 at his home.
Born in Edgefield County, he was a son of the late Wayman and Bessie Bailey Corley. He was a Korean War veteran and retired from Trotter’s Upholstery. A member of Red Oak Grove Baptist Church, he was a deacon, R.A. leader, secretary-treasurer and member of The Red Oak Grove Brotherhood.
Survivors include his wife; three brothers, Bailey Corley of Aiken, Ross Corley of Johnston, Marcus Corley of Edgefield; four sisters, Connie Buzhardt of Greenwood, Laura Forrester of Hoschton, Ga., Reba Bailey of Waycross, Ga., Betsy Stribling of North Augusta.
Services are 4 p.m. Saturday at Red Oak Grove Baptist Church. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.

Rosa Lou Edwards
July 7, 1920 – March 8, 2006
Rosa Lou Edwards (Reed), 85, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at a local nursing facility. A memorial service will be at 10:00 am Saturday, March 11 at Seventh and James Baptist Church in Waco with Dr. Raymond Bailey officiating. A graveside service will be at 5:00 pm at Snyder Cemetery in Snyder, Texas. Visitation will be from 5 to 8:00 pm Friday, March 10 at 10004 Forest View in Woodway.
Mrs. Edwards was born July 7, 1920 in Emory, Texas to Issac and Mary Prather. She moved to Snyder, Texas in 1924 and attended schools there. She married L.B. Edwards in 1938. He was a Baptist minister pastoring churches in west Texas, New Mexico and southern California. She served faithfully as a pastor’s wife in his various pastorates. Mrs. Edwards also worked selling cosmetics at Dunlap’s in Odessa, Texas. Reverend and Mrs. Edwards were members of First Baptist Church in Odessa after he retired. Her husband preceded her in death in 1987.
In 1999, Mrs. Edwards moved to Waco to live at a retirement residence near her son for health reasons. She met C. L. Reed and they were married in March, 2001. Mr. Reed died the following August. Mrs. Edwards was a devoted member of Seventh and James Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands; three brothers, William, A.P. and Raymond Prather; one sister, Bertha Davis and one daughter, Patsy Lynn.
Survivors include one son, Doyce Edwards of Woodway; one daughter, Sherry Stewart of Greenwood, SC; stepson, Rev. Bill Reed and wife, Marlene of Leeds, Alabama and stepdaughter, Gloria Gately and husband, Steven of San Antonio; four grandchildren, Phillip Edwards and fiance, Kristin Richards, Natalie Young and husband, Steven, Scott Edwards and John Giles. She is also survived by two sisters, Leona Davis of Las Cruces, NM and Callie Floyd of Sweetwater, TX; one brother, Bob Prather of Midland, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Seventh and James Baptist Church or Compassion Ministries of Waco.

Frances D. Holloway
GREENWOOD — Frances Anne Davis Holloway, 89, widow of James Marion Holloway, passed away, March 9, 2006. She was born on April 27, 1916, to Abram Josephus and Annie Lee Wilder Davis, in Macon, GA. She is survived by her son, Jim and wife, Donna of Columbia, SC; two grandsons, Jay of Columbia, SC and Jeff of Pittsburgh, PA; and, a nephew Wilder and wife, Sandra Davis of Fayetteville, GA and his family.
Services for Frances will be conducted from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel at 3:30 pm Sunday with Rev. Ryan Eklund officiating and will be followed by a brief service at the Greenwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will greet visitors preceding the service at the Blyth Funeral Home from 2:30 to 3:30 Sunday afternoon.
After her graduation from Miller High School, Macon, GA, in 1934, Frances spent the next school year in Pompano Beach, FL studying accounting. In the fall of 1935, she enrolled at the University of Georgia, Athens and graduated in 1939 with a degree in home economics. Thereafter, she taught home economics in the public high school of Dublin, GA. She left teaching when she married her childhood sweet-heart, and they moved to Greenwood, SC. When he was called to serve in WW II, she followed him to bases in 4 states.
A life long partner and consummate helpmate, Frances supported her husband in his many ventures. When he opened a grocery store, she kept the books; when he opened a restaurant, she made the pies; when he managed a Holiday Inn, she supervised the kitchen; and when he managed Self Memorial Hospital’s food service, she served as a dietician. She was a gifted preparer of Southern cooking and the long time treasurer of the Violet Garden Club.
Frances was a 60 year member of South Main Street Baptist Church. During the 1950’s she served in the administration, of a youth Sunday school department. She was active in her WMU and was a leader with the church’s support of a missionary in Taiwan. Her faith was centrally important to her.
When the pallbearers were young, Frances fed them meals and snacks during their visits to “The Hut”. They are Thomas Ellis, Mike Ethridge, Sonny Huntley, David Johnson, Yates Johnson, Larry Powell, Mat Self, and Bill Wilburn.
The family is at the family lake home, 415 Lakeshore Drive, Lake Greenwood.

DONALDS — William “Pee Wee” Keller III, 47, of 402 Dunn’s Creek Road, died Monday, March 6, 2006 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late William Keller Jr. and Emily Sanders Keller. He was a graduate of Ware Shoals High School and had been employed as roofer/carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Keller of Elberton, Ga.; two daughters, LaToya Keller and Crystal Keller of Elberton; a son, Alumba Kinte Keller of Flushing, N.Y.; a brother, Don Antron Keller of Syracuse, N.Y.; two sisters, Linda Darlene Keller of Honea Path and Carolyn Michelle Keller of Syracuse; paternal grandfather, William Keller Sr. of Donalds; two grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Dunn Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. James F. Davis III, Edward Stewart, Sylvester Jackson and Rodney Butler and Minister Annette Mathis. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.

ABBEVILLE — Everett Hundley McCurry, 93, of Abbeville Nursing Home, widower of Lavonia Dill McCurry, died Thursday March 9, 2006 at the nursing home.

Telitha ‘Etoide’ Morgan
HODGES — Telitha “Etoide” Morgan, 78, of 4316 Cokesbury Road, wife of James S. Morgan Sr., died Thursday, March 9, 2006 at HospiceCare of Greenwood.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Ashber Anderson Sr. and Blanche Jones Anderson. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church, where she was a deaconess, a former Sunday school teacher and a member of the Missionary Society, Pulpit Aid, Women of Faith Ministry and Women Aid Society of Saluda. She retired as a seamstress from Nantex Corp. after more than 30 years of service.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, James S. Morgan Jr. of Columbia; a daughter, Shirley M. Parks of Greenwood; three brothers, Barron Talley Anderson of Detroit, Ashber Anderson Jr. of Hodges, Milton Anderson of Abbeville; two sisters, Lillie Wright of Hodges, Gail Aiken of Durham, N.C.; three grandchildren, one reared in the home, Ericka Parks Gold; three great-grandchildren.

Nancy Roach
WARE SHOALS, S.C. — Nancy Simpson Roach, 83, of Ware Shoals, passed away on March 9, 2006 at her home on Mt. Bethel Rd. She was born January 7, 1923 to Wilford Alfonso and Katie Hughes Simpson and a lifelong resident of Laurens County. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband James Elmer Roach, sister, Sarah Simpson Simmons and brothers, Lee Alfonso Simpson, and Benjamin Frank Simpson.
Mrs. Roach was a member of Harmony United Methodist and a 1939 graduate of Ware Shoals High School. She will always be remembered for her love of the outdoors as evidenced by the variety of flowers and vege-tables in her gardens.
She is survived by her children, Cathy Roach Ollis and husband, Jack of South Asia, and Nathan Clark Roach and wife Susan of Ware Shoals: sister, Iris Simpson Hanna of Cross Hill: brothers, Wilford Alex Simpson of Cross Hill, John Walker Simpson and Roy Clark Simpson, both of Ware Shoals; and grandchildren, Jennifer Ellen Ollis of German-town, TN; James Edwin Ollis and wife, Nancy; Jason Clark Roach, Melissa Shannon Roach and Jared Randall Roach, all of Ware Shoals and one great grandchild, Zander James Ollis.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2006 at Harmony United Methodist Church with Rev. Fred Treaster, Rev. Lamar Babb and Rev. John Parks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

WARE SHOALS — Helen Holliday Tumblin, 89, widow of Charlie Tumblin died March 8, 2006 at Self Regional Medical Center. She was born in the Friendship Community of Anderson County, a daughter of the late Joseph Trammell and Cornelia Harper Holliday. She was a member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church.
Surviving are: a daughter, Shelby Tumblin Jones and husband, A.C. Jones, Ware Shoals.
Grandchildren Jeff Jones and wife, Pam, Kelly Sullivan and husband, Jack and Great-grandchildren, Adam Sullivan and Susanna Sullivan of Ware Shoals.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 Noon Friday at Parker-White Funeral Home with Rev. Leon Jones and Rev. Dan Compton officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers are Jeff Jones, Adam Sullivan, Ron Clark, Hubert Armstrong, Wendell Armstrong and C. Mike Holliday.
