Todaiji:
- This is me at Todaiji in Nara on one of the last days of the O-Bon Festival in 1999.
- Todaiji means Great East Temple. [To- East; Dai - Great or Big; Ji - Buddhist temple.] This temple houses the largest buddha in all of Japan.
- The place smelled of a wonderful incense, and the interior of the temple is dominated by Dai Butsu(Great Buddha) and it's two flanking
Buddha's.
- The Great Buddha represents the Cosmic Buddha.
- Here is a link in the Nara City site about Nara's Dai Butsu. Just click on the part about Todaiji Temple.
