FUN WITH SANDWICHES
WHAT YOU NEED: 2 pieces of bread & something to make sandwiches with such as (peanut butter & jelly). WHY: Teaches your child counting, number understandings, shapes, and many word meanings. WHAT TO DO: As you prepare your child something to eat, or cook dinner for your family, talk and teach your child! If you are making sandwiches talk to your child about how many pieces of bread will we need? What else will we need? (Encourage your child to tell how to make the sandwich, what is the knife for etc...) Explain to your child everything you do in language the child will understand, but not baby talk. How many corners are on a piece of bread? What is the shape of the bread? Explain that there is a top piece and a bottom piece. Cut the bread into 2 pieces and count them for the child then have the child count them. Explain the after the sandwich is cut into that the shap is now either a triangle or rectangle and recount the corners for her. It is important that you explain everything you do and why you are doing it. Don't use baby talk, use adult talk when teaching. A simple sandwich can help you teach 25 or more word meanings. But your child will not learn the first time...keep repeating. Add lots of praise to help your child want too learn and do this again!!! ~Kids Corner~ Is Brought To you By Jody, If you have any questions Please Feel free to contact her Here Jraa4@webtv.net Disclaimer: The Graphics on this page was made and are owned by Angel They are NOT to be used In any Commerical usage.
