RIVERSIDE

January 30, 2000, Sunday- Superbowl Sunday- and a moving day- from Palm Springs to Riverside, about 70 miles. Tomorrow Fleetwood will change out the front tires as part of the "tire recall". We are nestled in the parking lot with 3 other American Coaches, all with the satellite dishes up and the game on. As we left the desert, Susan again remarked about how much she enjoys the natural beauty, the weather, and the things to do in the Palm Springs area. I think she would like to spend an extended amount of time in the area during the next winter that we spend here.

ON TO TEMECULA

January 31, 2000, Monday -Our letter from Fleetwood said hours of operations- 8-5. Fortunately we spoke to a security guard yesterday, and she said that people arrive at 7 AM, so while the rest of the coaches slept in- I was waiting at the door on the hour- and was the first coach in the door. Instead of the three days that a dealer wanted for the recall- we were back on the road just after 11 AM with new front tires, modified wheel wells, and realigned axles. As usual, dealing with Fleetwood personnel is a pleasure. Everyone is polite and extremely well trained, and the procedure was a choreograph of mechanical steps. Having the right equipment, tools, and training made the job go smoothly. And, with some 350 coaches having been done at this facility in the last 60 days, we got people in the know, and not rookies feeling their way through printed instructions.

Hobbes in Outdoor Resorts

By 1 we were in the Outdoor Resorts outside of Temecula, checking into another high-end resort- with 9/10/10 ratings. The lots are for sale here- and many that are individually owned show many of dollars of added pavement, landscaping, lighting and furniture having been added. I'm still at a loss as to why one would purchase a site. The one we are on is listed at $75,000, and it contains standard utility hookups, and plain concrete. I guess it's ready for the "improvements". At $30 per night as a rental fee, for four months of the "winter", or $4000, why would you own the lot and have the cost of money, the cost of improvements and still pay a grand or two for maintenance, taxes and utilities? Small world- as we parked the coach, Dick and Barbara that we did our bike rides with in Long Beach, came over. They also had checked in today for a few days.
