THE FAMILY WEEKEND

April 13, 2001, Friday- washed the mud off the cars…..it's amazing how we didn't miss traveling in Colorado. Anyplace else the cars stay reasonably clean. Here, forget-about-it. Especially with the salt chemicals that the Colorado Dept of Highways spray on the roads as a deicer. They don't want to come off.

Hiked a little around Red Rock, and then on to Coors field to pickup our tickets….much easier today then with thousands of others on game day.

RED ROCKS AMPHITHEATER

Gilda had her hip surgery done yesterday and was slightly under the weather, so we didn't go to the hospital, but Lani, Molly and Werner came over to the Cherry Creek Mall….good to see them all. Werner is such a sweetheart.

Dinner was at a new place (to us…wow, two in a row), over on 6th avenue, Pisco's. Bill and Carol and Ken and fiancé Chalyce, Mom and Steve. Chilean food with lots of flavor.

April 14, 2001, Saturday- Mom and I got the early start, picking up Brad, Rach and the Jake Man at DIA at 7:45 AM. Debi picked up Rob and Deb at DIA an hour later, and Mom and Art joined us at Steve's by 10, the start of an incredibly noisy and fun day. Laughs, food, drinks until 11 at night. Steve arrived after working at the A Basin ski area for the day, Becky came just before dinner, as did Ben and Anna, and Bill and Lani caught us at a late dinner. The photos tell it all. The best of times. Dinner were NY strip steaks and a large salmon fillet from Costco, and, as always, nobody was disappointed.

NAP TIME FOR JAKE

April 15, 2001, Sunday- the last day of Passover. Brunch at Zadie's deli in Cherry Creek, then over to Coor Field for a Rockies verses the Arizona Diamondback's baseball game. Our ten tickets had the sun at our backs for the first two innings, then the shade came. With temps in the low 60's, most acceptable. Jake's first ball game wouldn't have been complete without a Rockies baseball cap…cute as a button! A 10 to 7 victory in the 10th inning capped a great afternoon.

COLORADO'S FAMOUS GOLD CAPITAL

April 16, 2001, Monday- great treat to make everyone lox, eggs and onions, add fresh bagels and cream cheese and everyone was quiet, chowing down. Alas, the unwinding of the weekend was starting. At noon Mom and Steve headed to Ft. Lauderdale on the same flights. Ben headed back up the hill. The remaining crew did some damage at Nordstrom's and then we headed in two cars over to DIA. Debi left, and the rest of us did a bite at the airport. Soon, it was good bye to Deb and Rob and Brad, Rach and the Jake Man.

It was interesting to watch the work habits of Brad and Steve. Steve worked from the phone line getting his e-mail, and then had the option of having his telephone voice mail at work converted into e-mail audio files, and listened to them over his computer. Pretty cool. Brad, always working his deals, kept his e-mail and instant messaging hot and heavy between his computer, his blackberry and his cell phone. Even out of the office, he didn't have to lose a stroke.
