REHEARSAL DINNER DAY

June 14, 2002, Friday- bad start to the weekend. Sue was making the bed and her back went out. Some Flexoril to begin the day isn't the way to start a worry free weekend full of activities. Fortunately, by the evening she was moving more freely.

I picked up the karaoke equipment in the Jeep and returned to Dakota Ridge so that Susan and Mom could head up the hill to Vail for their ladies luncheon. Hobbes, the coach and I started up the hill and found out that we were all stuck in traffic crawling up Floyd Hill. Finally we passed a burned out minivan, but it was still a schleppy ride, with the car only 10 minutes ahead of the coach.

After checking into Manor Vail, our wedding central location, I picked up our liquor permit for Saturday's BBQ and then watched the tent being set up. What an operation. Eight men were working like beavers. First the tent, then the floor (time consuming assembly with interlocking rolls), and then the roll-down walls. Inside we had round-top tables, rectangular serving tables, heaters, chairs, and coffee urns. Can't wait to see it tomorrow in operation.

Friends and family kept arriving all afternoon and we found time to meet and greet many, but at 6 we went to the Lord Gore to greet everyone for the rehearsal dinner evening. The drinks and horsderves took the hunger edge off and the spirit edge up. By the time we got into the room for dinner, naturally running later then planned, we started our roasting and toasting of Steve and Becky. So many of the family and friends wanted to give their thoughts, that we had a line, out into the "Green Room", waiting for "mike" time. It was truly a warm, intimate and fun filled evening. The mixture of tears and laughter created a wonderful start to a weekend full of activity.
