Beatrice felt a cool wind blowing on her face. Was she flying? She felt as if she were standing on something somewhat stable but also felt as if she were swaying back and forth. "Open your eyes but have no fear. We are nearing my home...my home is near!" Beatrice heard Mr. Taffy say. She waited a moment and took a deep breath afraid of what she may see. She slowly opened her eyes. She was flying in a hot air balloon! She looked down into the basket looking for Mr. Taffy but found her self, staring at a pair of shiny black dress shoes. Her eyes traveled upwards...pants, suit jacket...it was the marionette! He was her size! Or was she his size? She couldn't tell but he was still made of wood. "Welcome to the enchanted land of magical marionettes!" He proclaimed holding his arms out wide.

Beatrice peered cautiously over the basket and saw that they were floating over endless woodlands with colossal trees. They were the biggest trees she had ever seen in her life! Mr. Taffy read the look on her face and spoke to her. "That's where we are born. Thousands of us are carved from a single tree. Only certain trees are enchanted. Blessed by Nemestrinus, king of all the forests!" "I've never seen anything more wonderful in my life!" She exclaimed, suddenly realizing he hadn't rhymed at all.

The rest of the trip Mr. Taffy let Beatrice stare in wonder at the immense forests. After some time the forest started getting sparse and Beatrice thought she saw a few small houses here and there. They were of course made of wood and built with such craftsmanship. She noticed that they were slowly descending into a small village next to a sparkling blue river. "Here we are! We are but a short stroll to my home." Mr. Taffy said to her as he helped her out of the basket. When the balloon deflated he tucked it neatly into the basket. Beatrice watched him as he did this. This was certainly the most peculiar day she had ever had!

Beatrice and Mr. Taffy walked hand in hand down a cobblestone path leading into the heart of the village. "Welcome to Timberwick!" Mr. Taffy declared as they walked down the main street of Woodworth. Beatrice looked around in amazement. The citizens of the village were enjoying the beautiful day. They were all made of wood! Everything was made of wood!
