YVONNE SWINSON
My name is Yvonne Leigh Swinson and I am dreading turning 30 in February ( 2000). My husband, Steve, and I have been married 3 and a half years. Our daughter Jessica is the light of our life and will turn 2 on March 5, 2000--although she thinks she's twice that old. When Jessica was almost a year old, we decided we were ready for another but had a miscarrage last February followed by a molar pregnancy in June. I was very fortunate that my HCG levels dropped hard and fast, and so was clear to try again late last November--we conceived right away and were hoping to welcome a new baby late August, but we found out that the pregnancy was a blighted ovum.
We live in the middle of nowhere, Virginia--a.k.a. Louisa--my husband loves the country, so last year we bought 40 acres and just finished building a home we hope to never leave. With time, we plan to have horses, chickens, fruit trees, and the like. I was born in Greensboro, North Carolina and have lived in Georgia, Kentucky, Virginia, Utah, and then Virginia again (no, not military--my Dad was a traveling salesman). My favorite color is yellow. My lucky number is five. My favorite food is anything involving chocolate and/or cherries. I am a very typical Aquarius. I don't know my favorite movie, but Steel Magnolias, Mr. Smith Goes To Washington, and Dead Poet's Society would all be top tens. My favorite book is It Was On Fire When I Lay Down On It (same guy as All I Needed To Know I Learned In Kindergarten). Other things I love: gymnastics, poetry, sign language, hiking, camping, river rafting, laying in the sun. Occasionally I get crazy and do something like bungee jumping or repelling, but motherhood has calmed me down considerably.
I used to be in real estate--first leasing office space and then selling new construction, but I quit to be home with my daughter and am loving every minute of it.
I am now currently pregnant and expecting in December, 2000!
UPDATE: Steve and I are still living in Louisa, VA. We are trying to sell our home, though, and plan to relocate to St. George Utah in the next month or two. We now have four children - Jessica, age 8; Erynn, age 6; Jake, age 4; Isabelle, age 2 and are thinking about #5. I homeschool the kids, coach gymnastics, and write homeschool curriculum. I still enjoy sign language, photography and scrapbooking.
