This morning, on a message board, the juggler of the The 3 Ring Circus was excitedly sharing about buying her daughter's first tap shoes. These pictures are for her. (Don't tell her, but I am trying to pictorally say "these years go by so fast; don't miss them!" I don't want to say it out loud because I know all of her older and wiser friends have said this so often to her she is beginning to feel like no one trusts her to pay attention. At least that is how I felt a couple of decades ago.)
Please notice the utility of the first outfit. You can perform your tap, your ballet, get married AND wash away the sweat of it all, at one time.
In the blink of an eye
behold the butterfly
"Sooo high!"

I miss the lil one..I adore the grown one; in case that slipped your notice.
The sniper activity petrifies me.
This weekend my son is with his dad at a racetrack far from the city, but this shall pass all too quickly and he will drive back into the target practice zone. I wish his dad would kidnap him and bring him home until this is over.
And on the lighter side, here is an excerpt from a "Cody and Eustace Adventure" story. Really. It says so on the sticker his publisher (moi) was ordered to put on his cover.
"Mr. Ralston, something is wrong with the engine!" shouted my pilot, Eustace. Since I know that Eustace would never lie to me, and since it is true that you can not fix a helicopter when it is in the air, I started to sweat."
Then I forget how this was written, but the "chopper" crash lands on an island shaped like the skull of a T-Rex. A foreshadow of things to come:
Six hours later I awoke to the sounds of "Sir! Wake up, sir!"
"What happened?" I said.
You blacked out sir," said Eustace in a voice that sounded like he probably thought I was dead only moments ago.
But I was soon to find out what was making Eustace sound so scared as a T-Rex came slashing its way through the trees behind us. It was followed by an army of...(turn the page) VELOCIRAPTORS. End of Chapter One.
This week was publishing week. Cody published first, and went on to write chapters 2 3 and 4. I haven't seen them yet, but DAILY...no, HOURLY, he has asked in a put out voice, "Have you finished with everyone else yet?" because he is dying to give his audience the rest of the story.
Yes, he is just beginning second grade. I tell ya, watch for his name at Amazon.com in a few short years...
