Lestat lived in the castle of Lioncourt up to the age of 12, when he was sent to the monastery to study. After his father had learned about his desire to become a priest, Lestat was made to return to the castle. At the age of 16 made an inefficient attempt to start his life anew and ran away with Italian actors, but again, had to come back and became a hunter. When he was 20, after a successful wolf hunt he became the hero of the villagers, who called him Wolfkiller. With a friend, Nicolas de Lenfent, ran away to Paris, where he got a job at the Renaud's House of Thespians under the stage name of Lestat de Valois. By the winter of 1779 began acting and became known in Paris.
Lestat was captured in the winter of 1779 by the vampire Magnus, and made (against his will) into a vampire. After his transformation he continued to reside in Paris until May 1780. He also Acquired Renaud's theatre.
Lestat's mother came to Paris on her deathbed to see her son, he came the next night, and in a moment of desperation he offered her the 'Dark Gift'. She immediately took it.
In a few months Lestat and his mother Gabrielle were captured by the Parisian Coven led by Armand. Having broken free, he decided to leave Paris and went away with Gabrielle, but had assigned Renauds's Theatre, re-named by Nicolas as the Theatre des Vampires, to Eleni and Armand. From 1780 to 1790 they traveled Europe, Asia Minor and Egypt. In 1790, they learnt about the death of thier family during the French Revolution. Lestat parted with Gabrielle and went into the earth, to be later saved by Marius, who found him, and took him to his sanctuary and revealed the secret of Those Who Must Be Kept. Later he came to New Orleans where he found his blind father and met Louis de Point du Lac, whom he made his vampire companion. From 1791 to 1794 lived with the Marquis and Louis in the plantation of Pointe du Lac; after the death of his father there was a slave rebellion which they managed to escape with the help of Louis neighbor, Babette.
In 1862 Lestat was seriously wounded by Claudia, but survived and came back to Paris. There, deceived by Armand's coven, he testified against Claudia and was cast out. Two years later, he returned to New Orleans, moved into one of his old houses, trying to re-gain his power; he lived there until 1929, when he again went into the earth.
Lestat re-emreges in 1984. He becomes interested in the modern world, reads Louis' book and is eager to attract the attention of both mortals and vampires; so he starts a cult rock band "The Vampire Lestat" (origionally 'Satans Night out') and publishes an autobiography(The Vampire Lestat), where shares the vampire secrets with the whole world. After the notorious concert in San Francisco, on Halloween, where had gathered most of the surviving vampires, he was kidnapped by Akasha and became her companion. A month and a half after her death he finished his new book, 'The Queen of the Damned', where he told Akasha's story, and appeared in the Talamasca's London Motherhouse before David Talbot, who became an obsession for him.
In his third book, 'The Tale of the Body Thief'(published in 1992), Lestat exchanges bodies with a mortal Raglan James; and experiences life as a mortal again... For the most part he documented it as not having been worth the trouble. After complicated exchanging and re-exchanging of bodies David Talbot winds up in the 26 year old mortal body Raglan and Lestat both had inhabited and Lestat kills David's 74 year old body(which was inhabited by Raglan James at the time). Out of love and obsession Lestat finally makes David into a vampire.
David, Louis and Lestat for a new coven and live together in Louis and Lestat's old townhouse in New Orleans. Shortly after, however, the three part ways and Lestat goes to Rio, where he senses a non-mortal stalker. Lestat chooses a victim, Roger, to stalk. An evil man who, oddly enough, had a televangalist daughter who constantly fought to save souls... After killing Roger Lestat then speaks with his ghost. He also meets this man's daughter, Dora (and see's where she lives, an abandoned monestary called St. Elizabeth's); and shortly after is confronted by his own stalker. He presents himself as Memnoch: The Devil, and requests Lestat's help.
Lestat accompanies Memnoch to Heaven and Hell. He meets God, hears the story of creation, see's Christ's passion and the making of Veronica's veil. He visits Hell but decides against helping Memnoch. In escaping Hell he loses his left eye to Memnoch (later described as an accident on Memnoch's part).
Lestat gives Veronica's veil to Dora, who uses it to fan the flame of Christianity, which inspires Armand to destroy himself in the sun to affirm the veils authenticity; Mael does the same. Dora gives St. Elizabeth's to Lestat. Maharet returns Lestat's eye and chains him to restrain him (after his return he appears to have gone temporarily mad from all he'd seen and experienced). She gives him a note from Memnoch which thanks him for his help. Lestat dictates this experience to David, and in 1995 'Memnoch The Devil' was published.
Lestat then goes into a state of unconsciousness (the same as the Queen and King had remained in for so long), and despite the constant company of most of his vampire friends he would not wake until he heard Sybelle's music; however, he then returns to his sleep.
As dictated in the novel 'Merrick' Lestat finally rose from his 'sleep' immediately after Louis de Pointe du Lac (probably noted as his closest and most cherished friend) commited suicide by laying himself in the sun. Lestat came to his remains with the vampires David Talbot and the newly made Merrick Mayfair and continuously slashed his skin and bled into the coffin of Louis ashes, trying to bring him back to life. The latter two did the same. After many long and exhausting attempts, his plan worked. The four vampires then formed a new coven, but left New Orleans after recieving a threatening letter from the Talamasca: declaring that the murder of so many of it's members (David, Jesse, Merrick) by these vampires (particularly Lestat) would no longer be tolorated and that we would go through any lengths to protect any of our members in danger, if necessary.
David Talbot left a warning note for us afterwards stating that if we took action upon our threats then we had, most certainly, chosen the wrong vampire to take action upon. The next steps taken by either of these parties is yet to be seen, yet we do hope that this will not lead to a supernatural war.
You can read these two communications through the files "Letters to and from the Talamasca and Vampires".
