Famous singer-turned-actress Aaliya (w/ R&B songs such as "One in a million" and current "Try Again") will be playing the character of Akasha in the upcoming film version of The Queen of the Damned.
A small article in "Teen People Magazine" (september issue) stated the following:
"She hopes fans will get to open up to her sinister side as vampire Akasha in the film version of Anne Rice's The Queen of the Damned 'I wanted something different so [fans] get to see different sides,' she says."
Akasha's main opponent, Maharet, has been casted as well. However, the actress for Maharet was badly casted, in my opinion. The two opponents are supposed to look somewhat in the same area of age, however, Lena Olin, (Maharet) looks to be in her 50's or early 60's, while 21 year old Aaliyah doesn't even look as old as she is...
