A Young Wife and Mother: Mrs. Robert L. Taylor. This picture would have been taken when my sister Carole and I were three and four years old, and before the birth of Janis. Daddy, a rising young salesman for Star Engraving Company, had bought the house in Nichols Hills, which must have seemed, at least at first, idyllic, a dreamhouse in the suburbs--it even had a white picket fence (though only in the back yard).
